22.3 Communication on Behalf of the City <br />The City Manager and Department Di -eete .s (eF designees` aro is authorized to communicate on <br />behalf of the City in interviews, publications, news releases, on social media sites, and related <br />communications. Other employ Tepf!esent the City if approved by one of thes-e <br />individuals to eonffntmieate on a speeifie topic. No City employee may communicate on behalf <br />of the City without prior authorization from the City Manager. When speaking an <br />employee is authorized to communicate on behalf of the City: <br />Employees must identify themselves as representing the City. Account names on social <br />media sites must clearly be connected to the City and approved by the City Manager. <br />All information must be respectful, professional and truthful. Corrections must be issued <br />when needed. <br />Personal opinions generally don' do not belong in official City statements. One <br />exception is communication related to promoting a city service. <br />Employees need to notify their Department Director and the IT Department if they will <br />be using their personal technology (cell phones, home computer, cameras, etc) for City <br />business. Employees should be aware that the data transmitted or stored may be subject <br />to the data practices act. <br />Employee Fitness Benefit/Membership Policy <br />The City has never had an official policy in regards to the New Brighton Community Center <br />memberships. This new chapter would cover many of the details and concerns Park and <br />Recreation Staff have encountered while managing this benefit. The Chapter clarifies an area that <br />has been ambiguous. <br />SECTION 39 <br />EMPLOYEE FITNESS BENEFIT/MEMBERSHIP POLICY <br />5.1 Purpose <br />To provide City of New Brighton employees discounted fitness options that are convenient to <br />where they work in order for them to achieve health and wellness, including_ fitness <br />memberships, personal training services, and select group fitness classes. <br />5.2 Definition <br />Benefitted employee: The City of New Brighton will allow select annual memberships to be <br />purchased by any benefitted employee, including full-time, regular part-time, paid -on-call <br />firefighters and elected officials. As a benefit of employment, the City will pay for select annual <br />memberships. However, this benefit is considered a taxable fringe benefit, therefore the value of <br />the membership will be included on the employee'spayroll check so that the appropriate taxes <br />can be withheld. <br />C! <br />
