Another option for fitness at the NBCC is group fitness classes. Any City of New Brighton <br />employee can register for group fitness classes at a 20% discount. Classes usually meet 6-7 <br />times per session and include Zumba, kickboxing, yoga and much more. For those enrolling in a <br />Health Wave membership, select group fitness classes are included and would not reauire an <br />additional payment. <br />Employment status must be verified prior to the 20% discount being accessed. <br />5.7 Employee Membership Status Upon Resignation or Termination <br />Benefitted Employees: If any benefitted employee, including full-time, regular part-time, paid -on- <br />call firefighters and elected officials have enrolled in an annual membership under the City of New <br />Brighton benefit and resigns, and is an employee in good standing, the membership will be <br />considered valid until the expiration date. All previous payments incurred for that membership will <br />not be refunded if the employee chooses not to continue using the facility. <br />If any benefitted employee, including full-time, regular part-time, paid -on-call firefighters and <br />elected officials have enrolled in an annual membership under the City of New Brighton benefit <br />and resigns or is terminated, and is an employee not in good standing, the City reserves the right <br />to voluntarily terminate the membership and flag the account as "cancelled." All previous <br />payments incurred for that membership will not be refunded. <br />Seasonal/Part-Time Employees: If any seasonal or part-time employee has purchased a <br />discounted employee NBCC membership and resigns or is terminated, the membership discount <br />will be discontinued and it is up to the former employee to continue their membership at the <br />regular rate, if they are an employee in good standing. If they are not an employee in good <br />standing, the City has the right to deny the former employee the opportunity to enroll as a regular <br />member_ <br />Summary: <br />The recommended changes have been reviewed by the City's legal representation. If the <br />recommend changes are adopted by the City Council, the revisions to the Employee Handbook <br />will be officially implemented and adopted by the City on August 1, 2015. City staff will track <br />all of the approved changes by noting the date in each section of the employee handbook in <br />which changes have been adopted by the City Council.
