2. The US Department of Justice should explore public-private partnership opportunities <br />with foundations to advance implementation. <br />3. The COPS Office and Office of Justice Programs should take a series of targeted actions <br />to assist law enforcement in addressing current and future challenges. <br />The next steps that our department has taken include police leadership have reviewed and are <br />working on the Six Pillars; and, use of force training is a priority with a focus on de-escalation. <br />Updates <br />A. Citizen Corps Council <br />No Report. <br />Department Reports <br />A. Human Rights <br />No Report <br />B. Allina Health <br />Mr. Dave Matteson, Allina Health, reported that today, Allina Health handled the 1,OOOth <br />emergent call in New Brighton with an average response time of 7:11. <br />Allina, Health has approved 24 hrs/day more coverage for the north metro area. This added <br />coverage should be up by April 2016 and Allina Health will be hiring more paramedics <br />The clinical medicine goal this year for Allina Health is sepsis which is an infection which <br />destroys your internal organs. Allina Health has a goal of 80% compliant with their sepsis <br />protocol; currently, they are at 81 %. <br />Mr. Matteson noted the drowning call on August 6th. He reported police and fire did an <br />outstanding job; they were extremely impressive with their response and quickly found the <br />female victim. An After Action Review was done on this call where the responders were able to <br />have good discussion and learn from this call. <br />C. Volunteers in Public Safety (VIPS) <br />No report. <br />D. Public Safety/Homeland Security Update <br />Director Jacobson noted we are cancelling the Citizen's Police Academy scheduled to start on <br />Thursday as we had very few applications to attend. We will be looking at hosting "hot topics" <br />nights where we will have one or two topics to present during the evening. We believe the long <br />term commitment to Citizen's Police Academies may be problematic. <br />The annual Fire Division Open House will be on Monday, October 26th from 6 to 8 pm which is <br />the same night as our next Public Safety Commission meeting. <br />
