Oath of Office for Police Officers Donald Kostohryz and Travis Nordhus <br /> <br />Acting Director of Public Safety Paetznick introduced newly hired Police Officers Donald Kostohryz and <br />Travis Nordhus to the City Council. He was pleased that both officers persevered through their field training <br />and welcomed these officers to the City of New Brighton. <br />City Clerk Haarstad administered the Oath of Office to Officer Nordhus and Officer Kostohryz. A round of <br />applause was offered by all in attendance. <br />Mayor Johnson stated it was a great honor to have both officers a part of the New Brighton family and <br />encouraged them both to be safe. <br />Councilmember Burg welcomed Officers Nordhus and Kostohryz to the City. She believed New Brighton <br />was very fortunate to have a first-class Public Safety Department. <br />Councilmember Jacobsen stated it was a great responsibility to serve the community as a Police Officer. He <br />encouraged Officers Nordhus and Kostohryz to carry on the high level of integrity this position held. <br />Councilmember Bauman believed the City was very fortunate they were still individuals willing to protect <br />and serve this community given the climate surrounding law enforcement today. She thanked Officer <br />Nordhus and Officer Kostohryz for their service to the community. <br /> <br /> 2. Public Safety Civilian Service Award <br /> <br />Acting Director of Public Safety Paetznick stated on March 29th, 2016 Freeway Towing employees <br />Robert Flannigan and Troy Hoover were working onsite when an adult male and an adult female <br />came to retrieve property from a previously towed vehicle. Flannigan and Hoover escorted both of <br />them to the vehicle and watched as they recovered property. Flannigan and Hoover became <br />suspicious of the male as he was spending an unusual amount of time opening the doors.
