3 <br /> <br /> Stockyard Days starts next week. <br /> National Night was a huge success. There were at least 130 planned <br />parties. School supplies and food for the food shelf were collected. <br />There was a lot that came in. Very pleased with what was donated. <br /> Next week the Council starts working on budget. <br />B. Chair Updates <br />Chair Kunesh-Podein rode in a Police car to at least a dozen National Night <br />Out Parties. People were so very generous in giving school supplies and <br />food. Thank you to all who gave. Stockyard Days Parade is coming up. The <br />Farmers Market is in partnership with United Theological Seminary. There <br />are at least 5 produce providers, ice cream and artisans. Each week more <br />and more vendors participate. Every Wed from 3 -7pm. Runs through first <br />week of October. It is a great community event. August 24 is dog days. Thank <br />you to all involved. <br />C. Commission Reports on Parks <br />Driftwood: Parker. No report <br />Freedom: Brunell. The ballfield is always just beautiful. The grass is mowed <br />and the park looks real nice. There is a broken branch on a River Birch tree <br />on the sidewalk outside of the ballfield fence. Parking lot seal coated and <br />restriped and it looked like they missed some stripes. <br />Chair Kunesh-Podein reminded everyone of app for your phone called Ready <br />311. When there is an issue with branches, or whatever, you can snap <br />pictures and send it in. <br />Hansen: Fields. The park is nice and green. The bridge has lots of weeds <br />growing around the bridge. A tree was lost along the creek and removed. May <br />need some landscaping in the area because of the damage the tree crew did <br />to the river bank, path, bench and one hole of the Frisbee golf during the <br />removal. It remains rough where that happened. The park is very busy. <br />Hidden Oaks: Quade. The park is being used, especially in the mornings. <br />Director Breuer commented that a company with 30 employees from Astra <br />Zeneca Corporation went to Hidden Oaks and helped the park crew dig up <br />the buckthorn in that park. The City is very grateful for their help. 140 cubic <br />yards of buckthorn was removed. <br />Innsbruck: Kunesh-Podein. It is a beautiful park right now. New wood chips <br />down, nice plantings with flowers, soccer field so nice and green. The park is <br />accessible to many, including handicapped. Commissioner Justin stated the <br />planting at Innsbruck was a Scout project. Also, there are new picnic tables <br />along the soccer field. <br />Meadow Wood: Eischen. No report. <br />Silver Oaks/Totem Pole: Justin. Silver Oaks is being used. Soccer nets up. <br />Tennis court have cracks in the court. Director Breuer stated a letter has gone <br />out to the Silver Oaks residents and asked residents if they want to repair the <br />tennis court, would they like it converted to pickleball courts or something <br />else. Totem Pole does have a tennis court and it is being used. Both tennis <br />and basketball courts are being used. The ballfield is used by leagues. <br />Sunny Square/Vermont: McEathron. No report. <br />Veterans: Stenglein. Playground used before and after dinner. <br /> <br />D. Department Happenings / upcoming events <br /> 173 participants in group fitness.
