RESOLUTION NO. ________ <br />STATE OF MINNESOTA <br />COUNTY OF RAMSEY <br />CITY OF NEW BRIGHTON <br />A RESOLUTION CREATING AN INCLUSIVE COMMUNITY TASK FORCE <br /> WHEREAS, the City Council desires having a community that welcomes all individuals; <br />and <br /> WHEREAS, the City Council is committed to continue building a welcoming and <br />neighborly atmosphere in our community, where all are welcome accepted; and <br />WHEREAS, the council honors the spirit of unity that brings neighbors together and <br />makes our community the kind of place where people of all diversities feel valued and want to <br />put down roots; and <br /> WHEREAS, the Mayor has held meetings with city staff and city residents interested in <br />identifying opportunities to engage all of New Brighton’s residents; and <br />WHEREAS, the City Council of New Brighton believes New Brighton already works <br />hard to engage residents and wants to continue expanding on those efforts; and <br />WHEREAS, the City Council believes there is a need for a more formal and proactive <br />approach towards creating an inclusive community, in which more diverse populations could be <br />included in community engagement efforts; and <br /> WHEREAS, the City Council believes creation of a task force would have a mission of <br />ensuring the City is taking advantage of every opportunity to make sure all residents experience a <br />sense of inclusion and belonging; and <br /> WHEREAS, the City Council believes appointment to this task force would include <br />members of the community recommended directly to the council for consideration. And <br />additional members (3 to 5) the first quarter of 2018 during the traditional application for <br />commission time period. <br />NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of New <br />Brighton, Minnesota that an Inclusive Community Task Force will be created for the following <br />reasons: <br />1) Identify ways to continue existing and foster new partners within the three Mounds View Public <br />Schools within New Brighton. <br />2) Identify and recommend corrective actions to barriers and challenges such as transportation, language, <br />technological (communication outlets), institutional and physical barriers that limit access to
