He expressed concern with the language that
Commissioners serve at the pleasure of the Council and that their terms could be shortened or
modified. He explained the Council already had the power to dismiss a Commissioner. He
feared the purpose of the proposed language was to encourage Commissioners not to disagree
with the City Council and such an expectation would be damaging to the advisory
Commissions. He wanted to be assured that Commissioners could ask hard questions and be
honest. He believed the Council should want their Commissioners to have a broad view. He
reported that none of the 10 comparable cities the City refers to have similar language, nor
does the League of Minnesota Cities.

Approval of Agenda
Approval of the September 26, 2017 Council Agenda.

Motion by Councilmember Jacobsen, seconded by Councilmember Strub to approve the
agenda as submitted.

4 Ayes, 0 Nays-Motion Carried

Council Minutes
Approval of the Council minutes from August 22, 2017.

Motion by Councilmember Burg, seconded by Councilmember Jacobsen to approve the
minutes from the August 22, 2017 meeting.

Call to Order

Pledge of Allegiance

Public Comment
Forum

Approval of Agenda
Approval of the
September 26, 2017
Agenda.

Council Minutes
Approval of Council
Minutes

COUNCIL PROCEEDINGS
THE CITY OF NEW BRIGHTON
