3

In April, Officers responding to a noise complaint of a honking horn in the parking lot of
the Fountain Terrace Apartment building early last Thursday morning around 1am found
an intoxicated male seated inside an SUV with blood on his shirt. The investigation
determined that he had been stabbed, however, the victim denied that he had been
stabbed. He did not believe officers when they told him about the two wounds on his
back. A search of the vehicle and apartment buildings did not reveal any further evidence
or the location of where the victim was stabbed. The victim claimed to be visiting a
friend at the apartment building at an unknown unit. Officers canvassed the building but
were not able to locate “the friend” or any witnesses to the crime. The victim was
transported by Allina paramedics to HCMC for treatment.

On April 13th, New Brighton squads were dispatched on a 51 year old male who was
making suicidal comments. The male party was believed to have a hunting knife on his
work desk. Contact was made with the party. The party was found to be very
intoxicated. He provided a preliminary breath test sample which revealed a .345 BAC.
A hold was signed on the party and he was transported to the hospital.

On April 14th, New Brighton squads were dispatched on a domestic assault call where the
assaulter also ended up assaulting the caller who was the brother of the initial victim.
The assaulter ended up choking and hitting the brother/caller. Shortly after the squads
arrived, the brother/caller went into cardiac arrest. Officers on scene started CPR and
Allina medics responded to the scene. He was transported to the hospital where staff
pronounced his death shortly after arrival. The party who choked and assaulted the
brother/caller was arrested for Murder where he was booked at the Ramsey County jail.

On April 16th shortly after 1am, squads responded to an intoxicated and aggressive male
who was armed with a sword in front of his residence while his family members
remained inside the house, fearful of his behavior. With assistance from Mounds View
and Saint Anthony police officers, the street and house were surrounded. Eventually,
contact was made with the subject. Officers visually verified that he no longer had the
weapon. He was taken into custody without incident. He was transported to the hospital
for a mental health evaluation.
