3 <br />On October 10, New Brighton squads assisted St. Anthony PD looking for a robbery <br />suspect who had fled from the scene. <br /> <br />On October 11th, a New Brighton officer spoke to an elderly New Brighton resident who <br />was the victim of fraud. The resident received a phone call the night before stating his <br />grandson and would need bail $9,500.00 cash. He was promised the money back. The <br />resident sent the money then received another call the next day. This time, the suspects <br />advised they had received the money but would need an additional $8,500.00 cash for an <br />attorney. The resident sent it through Fed Ex. Both times the cash was sent via FedEx. <br />He was advised they would try to cancel package, Garden City PD was notified to <br />intercept package from a vacant address in their town. Case status was pending while <br />waiting for further updates from FedEx and Garden City PD. <br /> <br />On October 12th, squads responded on an armed robbery at McDonalds. Two black male <br />suspects entered into McDonalds with firearms and forced the employees to back office <br />area. Money was stolen from the till and the safe. The employee’s cell phones were also <br />stolen. Suspects then fled on foot through the rear of restaurant. A perimeter was set up <br />and a K9 track was attempted with negative results. Officers located evidence along the <br />railroad tracks. <br /> <br />On October 15th, squads had a report of a female who came to the residence and stated <br />she was being chased. She then took off running southbound. Officer Nerison locates the <br />female at Old 8 and Foss Road. She tries running into traffic screaming. Officer Nerison <br />grabs onto her and she resists. He had to push her against a vehicle stopped in traffic. <br />Sgt. Singer arrives and she continues to resist and is eventually forced to the ground/grass <br />and handcuffed. She appears to have been having an anxiety attack and possibly on meth. <br />She was strapped to the stretcher and transported to HCMC. Emergency Admission form <br />completed. There wasn't anyone chasing her. <br /> <br />On October 18th, New Brighton squads responded to a report of a house fire in the 300 <br />block of 3rd Avenue SE. A neighbor reported flames coming from the residence. Upon <br />arrival, officers received information that one occupant was unaccounted for and still <br />possibly inside. A firefighting crew quickly made entry to the smoke-filled structure and <br />extinguished the flames in the kitchen but a search of the house did not locate any <br />persons. One cat was removed and successfully revived. The residents reported that <br />their missing roommate had been in the upper level of the house just prior to the smoke <br />detectors sounding, and they suspected that he had intentionally ignited the fire. Later, <br />the suspect was located coming out of the woods nearby by a Ramsey County Sheriff’s <br />Office Deputy. He was interviewed and admitted to placing a gas can and other items on <br />the stovetop then turning on the burners, knowing that his roommates were in the <br />basement. He was booked at the Ramsey County Jail on pending charges of 1st degree <br />Arson. <br /> <br />On October 20th, New Brighton squads assisted Minneapolis PD with a motor vehicle <br />pursuit that crashed on I-35W under the County Road E2 bridge. The suspect was taken <br />into custody without incident. <br /> <br /> <br />
