ProjeC t exPerienCe <br />< For full cutsheet, align sidebar to this guide <br />Community Planning <br />New Brighton, Minnesota <br />over the past three decades hkGi has conducted comprehensive planning, parks <br />and trails strategic planning, and redevelopment planning for the City of new <br />brighton. in 1997 hkGi conducted a corridor study for old highway 8, which <br />resulted in “a vision for the heart of new brighton,” a redevelopment plan that <br />provided conceptual, design, and implementation guidance for five different focus <br />areas along the corridor. <br />in 1998 hkGi led the planning team that authored the Comprehensive plan that still <br />serves as the foundation for the City’s current Comprehensive plan. that plan has <br />proven resilient and has given City staff a framework for subsequent plan updates. <br />in 2006 hkGi prepared a parks, recreation and trails strategic plan. hkGi led the <br />strategic planning effort in partnership with the City and with the assistance of <br />recreation experts. the planning process included significant input from the public, <br />a variety of stakeholders, and city officials. the strategic plan established a vision <br />and mission for the Department and put “play” into the City vision statement. <br />the plan emphasizes promoting active living strategies, raising awareness in the <br />community of the recreation facilities and programs available to residents, and <br />displaying the benefits of parks and recreation across the spectrum of department <br />communications and actions. <br />hkGi has recently been retained by the City of new brighton to study and update its <br />park dedication ordinance. <br />Plan and analysis graphics from the 2006 <br />Parks, Recreation and Trails Strategic Plan <br />City of New BrightoN, MiNNesota 30
