sustainability features that were implemented at Lions Park to save water. He <br />encouraged residents in New Brighton to consider using an energy efficient shower <br />head. He updated the Commission on the improvements being made at the City’s <br />water treatment plant. <br /> <br />Discussion included: <br /> Whether Xcel Energy should be invited to attend the upcoming Health Expo <br />in order to provide the public with further information on ways to be <br />sustainable and energy efficient. Director Fink discussed how the City <br />worked with Xcel Energy. Schlichting noted staff could place a link on the <br />City’s website to Xcel Energy as well. <br /> Whether the City’s trail lighting was being considered for LED replacement. <br />Director Fink stated this would be considered over time and as new trails are <br />created. She noted Lion’s Park has LED lighting and permeable pavers. <br /> Whether there would be a cost savings was for changing City Hall fluorescent <br />light fixtures over to LED. Schlichting stated he was uncertain of the exact <br />cost savings but noted the LED lights would cost less to run in the long run <br />and noted there was a small cost up front to purchase a new fixture. <br /> Whether the City would be implementing any solar energy options. <br />Schlichting explained the City was working with Amaresco to complete an <br />audit on the City. He reported the City has been told the biggest cost saving <br />measure to take was with its street light conversion to LED. He explained <br />solar does have a larger payback period. He noted Amaresco had <br />recommended solar panels on top of the Community Center, but this has yet to <br />be discussed by staff. Director Fink commented that any future City <br />buildings would have sustainability measures built into as this would be more <br />cost efficiently than retrofitting existing buildings. <br /> <br />Director Fink and the PREC Commission thanked Schlichting for his time and <br />presentation. <br /> <br />B. Meeting and Events Facility Overview – Liz Amici-Floyd; Meeting and Event <br />Coordinator <br />Director Fink introduced Liz Amici-Floyd to the Commission and explained the work <br />she does on behalf of the City. <br /> <br />Coordinator Amici-Floyd provided the Commission with an overview on the meeting <br />and events she schedules at the New Brighton Community Center and within the <br />City’s parks. She explained she has been in this role for the past 2½ years. She stated <br />NBCC had over 2,500 rentals in 2017. She explained this did not include any Eagle’s <br />Nest activities. She described the spaces that were rented out within the NBCC and <br />reviewed photographs from various events. She commented on the clients that <br />utilized the spaces within the Community Center and the rentals that occurred at the <br />City’s neighborhood centers and the Brightwood Hills Clubhouse. She noted Hansen <br />Park was the most popular park in the City. She explained she used Max Galaxy for <br />all of her room rentals. She noted she manages the Parks and Recreation portion of
