Coordinator Amici-Floyd explained the City’s website was a valuable <br />resource and noted she also had brochures available. She indicated she ran <br />ads with several publications such as Twin Cities Gateway, with the Chamber <br />of Commerce and others. <br /> How the activity level at Totem Park, which was a hidden gem in the <br />community, has increased over the last several years and whether or not the <br />City had been seeing an upturn in graduation party rentals. Coordinator <br />Amici-Floyd stated the City does get very busy in the spring with renting out <br />neighborhood centers for graduation parties. <br /> How Hansen Park has been a popular meeting spot for groups like the Cub <br />Scouts as it is a great meeting space. <br /> That people are looking forward to being able to rent space online. <br />Coordinator Amici-Floyd stated this option would improve customer service <br />for the City. She noted staff was also working to improve the key down <br />payment policy. <br /> Whether or not the City offered discounted rates for community or non-profit <br />groups. Coordinator Amici-Floyd reviewed the reduced rental rates that were <br />offered for non-profits and community groups. <br /> <br />Director Fink, Council Member Burg and the Commission thanked Coordinator <br />Amici-Floyd for her presentation. <br /> <br />VI. Announcements <br /> <br />A. Council Report – Council Member Burg <br />Council Member Burg provided the Commission with an update from the <br />Council. She reported the Council would be taking applications for open <br />Commission seats. She noted a student liaison would be appointed to each of the <br />City’s Commissions/Committees. She stated the Council would be holding a <br />teambuilding retreat with staff on Saturday, January 6th. She reported Graeme <br />Allen and Emily Dunsworth would be sworn in as Councilmembers on Tuesday, <br />January 9th. <br /> <br />B. Chair Updates <br />Chair Fields requested a status update on the pond dredging at Hansen Park. <br />Director Fink reported Director Schlichting was the lead on this project. She <br />understood that this project would be completed in 2018. She stated she would <br />provide the Commission with a more detailed update at their next meeting. <br />
