If substantive changes are made, staff will <br />return to the City Council for re-approval. <br />Councilmember Burg thanked staff for all of their work on this. She stated she fully supported this item <br />moving forward. <br />Councilmember Dunsworth stated she was excited about this opportunity as well and believed the proposed <br />billboard would assist in informing the public with upcoming community activities. <br />Mayor Johnson commented she looked forward to using the dollars generated by this billboard to increase the <br />City’s sense of place. She commended Director Schlichting for his efforts on this contract. <br /> <br />5 Ayes, 0 Nays-Motion Carried <br /> <br />Commission Liaison Reports, Announcements and Updates <br /> <br />Dean Lotter <br />City Manager Lotter discussed the employee searches staff was working on at this time for the <br />IT Department. He noted things were progressing quite well at the water treatment plant. He <br />explained staff has identified a new lab for its water testing. He reported Michelle Wheeler was <br />being brought back to the City to assist with several website updates to improve user - <br />friendliness. He provided the Council with an update on the City’s supervisory training. He <br />noted staff would be attending respectful workplace training in the early part of May. He <br />reported the seminary sent Open House notices to their neighbors regarding the sale of their <br />property. He indicated this Open House would be held on Thursday, May 3rd at 6:30 p.m. at <br />the seminary chapel. <br /> <br />Mary Burg <br />Councilmember Burg reported the Planning Commission met on Tuesday, April 17th. She <br />noted she attended the Metro Cities Annual Meeting with City Manager Lotter and provided <br />the Council with an update on the issues that were discussed at this event. She explained the <br />volunteer recognition dinner was held on Sunday, April 22nd. She was proud to report over <br />6,000 hours of volunteerism occurred in 2017. She noted the Kitchen Kut-Ups would be <br />putting on a free show at the Atonement Lutheran Church on Friday, May 4 th at 7:00 p.m. All <br />money received as donations would be given to the Park and Recreation Department for <br />scholarships. She noted this event would include a free ice cream social. She explained the <br />Historical Society’s Annual Meeting would be held on Thursday, April 26th at 2:00 p.m. at the <br />New Brighton Community Center. She indicated the group would be hearing from a historian <br />on the TCAAP property. <br /> <br />Paul Jacobsen <br />Councilmember Jacobsen reported Park and Recreation met on Wednesday, April 4th. He <br />provided the City with an update on Emerald Ash Borer noting a pocket had been found in the <br />Vermont neighborhood. He encouraged residents to contact the Cit y if interested in treating <br />their ash trees. He reviewed the record setting number of visitors and birthday’s that have <br />occurred at the Eagle’s Nest. He stated the summer neighborhood playground programs were <br />taking registrations now. He indicated he attended the volunteer appreciation dinner this past <br />Sunday. He thanked all of the individuals in the community who give of their time. <br /> <br />Emily Dunsworth <br />Councilmember Dunsworth reported there would be a Ramsey County Public Forum on <br />Opioids on Wednesday, April 25th at the Roseville High School from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. <br />She explained Saturday, April 28th was National Prescription Drug Take Back Day.
