July 24, 2018 Page 7 of 7 <br />6:30 p.m. He noted Stockyard Days would begin on Sunday, August 5th and would run <br />through Monday, August 13th. He reviewed a long list of events that would be held during <br />Stockyard Days, noting the parade would be held on Thursday, August 9th. He welcomed the <br />new IT staff members to the City of New Brighton. <br /> <br />Mary Burg <br />Councilmember Burg reported the Mounds View Community Theater would be putting on <br />Chitty Chitty Bang Bang Wednesday, July 25th through Sunday, July 29th. She encouraged the <br />public to take in this wonderful community event. She noted she would be attending an NYFS <br />meeting on Thursday, July 26th. She commented on their new technology outreach program <br />that would partner youth with seniors. She indicated the Taste of Northeast Fundraiser was <br />being planned for October. <br /> <br />Mayor Johnson <br />Mayor Johnson provided the Council with an updated from the Inclusive Community Task <br />Force. She encouraged the Council to drive down Silver Lake Road to view the new street <br />lights. She stated the new lights were beautiful. She commented on the antique car run that <br />would be running through the community during Stockyard Days. She provided further <br />comment on the other events that were being planned for Stockyard Days. It was noted the <br />kiddie parade and a softball game would be held at the new Lions Park. She discussed the <br />changes that have occurred in the City over the last year and clarified the Council does was not <br />able to select the language for the ballot question. She explained this language was drafted by <br />several attorneys. She indicated the Council has been extremely transparent on this issue and <br />was working to present the facts to the public.
