<br /> <br /> <br />MINUTES <br />Public Safety Commission <br />September 10, 2018 City Hall <br />Council Chambers 6:30 p.m. <br /> <br />I. Call to Order <br /> <br />The meeting was called to order at 6:30 p.m. by Chair Hollimon. <br /> <br />II. Roll Call: <br />Members Present: Commissioners Robert Boyd, Sara Conway, William Cook, Amina Ghouse, <br />Geoff Hollimon, Stephanie Malone, Matthew Palmeri, and Karen Wagner. <br /> <br />Members Absent: Commissioner Tanya Kessler. <br /> <br />Also Present: Director Tony Paetznick <br /> <br />III. Approval of Agenda <br /> <br />Motion by Cook, seconded by Palmeri to approve the September 10, 2018 agenda as presented. <br />Motion carried 8-0. <br /> <br />IV. Approval of Minutes <br /> <br />Motion by Palmeri, seconded by Malone to approve the July 9, 2018 minutes as presented. <br />Motion carried 8-0. <br /> <br />V. Presentations and Public Hearings <br /> <br />A. Crime Stats – Tony Paetznick, Public Safety Director <br /> <br />Director Paetznick reviewed Crime Stats with the Commission for the second quarter of <br />2018, along with annual crime numbers. He discussed the City’s theft from vehicles and <br />robberies that occurred during the summer months. He commented on the violent crimes <br />against people and noted these were always low in New Brighton. The departments staffing <br />model was reviewed with the Commission and noted it was his hope to move to 30 sworn <br />officers in 2019. <br /> <br />Discussion included: <br /> Crime trends throughout the metro area were discussed. <br /> Auto theft trends in the community were reviewed. <br /> It was noted the Police Department does not have quotas of any type.
