The Council may appoint any member. <br />The City Council shall annual confirm a chairperson to represent each commission or <br />committee. The chairperson will be expected to provide leadership for the commission <br />and to facilitate the conduct of regular meetings”. <br /> <br />Item 2 of this section lists the following criteria to be used when selecting the <br />chairperson: <br />A. The member has a served a minimum of one term (of three years) on the <br />commission. <br />B. The member has a good attendance record and expects to be able to make all <br />meetings while serving as chairperson. <br />C. The member has demonstrated leadership and involvement in past activities of the <br />commission. <br />D. The member has demonstrated the ability to understand and further the City’s <br />overall mission, specifically relating to the commission’s responsibilities. <br /> <br />As such, the Commission shall select a chair to serve for the upcoming year. There is no <br />requirement the chairperson change each year, so the existing chair may continue if <br />they are willing and that is the desire of the Commission. Staff suggests a member of <br />the Commission nominate another member. This nomination should be seconded and <br />voted on. While not a requirement of City Code, staff also recommends a vice-chair be <br />nominated. This nomination should also be seconded and voted on. Staff will forward <br />the chair and vice-chair recommendations to the City Council at their next meeting. <br /> <br />
