The department delivers those services using a staff of 21 full-time <br />employees and the equivalent of an additional 20 staf f, consisting of part-time and <br />temporary staff (working less than 20 hours per week on average). Staff are broken into <br />three service areas. Parks, Recreation and the Community Center. <br /> <br />The City maintains 17 neighborhood parks, urban forest and open spaces totaling 215 <br />acres as well as a the New Brighton Community Center offers cultural, educational and <br />wellness programs to nearly a half million visitors of all ages each year. The Community <br />Center includes the newly rebuilt Eagles Nest indoor playground, senior programming, a <br />full size gym, indoor track and fitness center, meeting rooms and banquet facilities and <br />is home to the City’s Parks and Recreation Department offices. New Brighton is also <br />home to Brightwood Hills Golf Course, a 31-acre nine-hole executive course known for <br />its youth programming and league nights. <br /> <br />This presentation will give a brief overview of the department, staff, and areas of <br />responsibilities. <br /> <br /> <br />
