7 <br />Saint Paul Police hosted an extra TZD Hi-Viz DWI Saturation on Monday, January 30, <br />2018 from 7 p.m. to 3 a.m. <br /> <br />Eight overtime funded officers focused their efforts on the downtown freeways and roads <br />surrounding the Xcel Energy Center due to the Super Bowl Media Day event: <br /> <br />• 106 traffic stops <br />• 8 people taken to jail <br />• 5 DWI arrests <br />• 22 drivers cited for DAR/DAS <br />• 5 vehicles towed <br /> <br />Notes: RCSO deputy made 16 traffic stops and ticketed 9 of the 16 drivers for not <br />having valid licenses and also took 2 of the drivers to jail for (Body Only) drug warrants. <br />SPPD officer arrested a driver for felony level violation a DANCO (Domestic Abuse No <br />Contact Order). <br /> <br />On January 3, Officer Kostohryz observed a vehicle traveling southbound in the <br />northbound lane in the 400 block of Old Highway 8 SW. A traffic stop was conducted <br />and the driver displayed signs of impairment. The driver failed field sobriety tests. The <br />driver was arrested for DWI. The driver submitted to a breath test which revealed a BAC <br />of .25. The driver was booked at Ramsey County LEC for 3rd degree DWI. The vehicle <br />towed to Freeway Towing. <br /> <br />On January 4, an officer conducted an investigative stop on a vehicle where routine <br />checks on the registration revealed the registered owner showed a cancelled driver <br />license. A traffic stop was conducted and the driver stated he did not have a DL. The <br />driver showed signs of stimulant impairment. Routine checks showed the driver had a <br />revoked DL. The driver failed SFST's. A syringe and digital scale were found in the <br />vehicle. The driver arrested for DWI. The vehicle was towed and held for forfeiture as <br />the driver had a “B” card. A Search warrant was written and urine sample was obtained. <br />The driver was booked for the “B” card violation. <br /> <br />On January 7th at approximately 0200 am, Officer Amberg was on routine patrol in the <br />area of 694 and Silver Lake Road and observed a vehicle make several lane violations. <br />Officer Amberg conducted a traffic stop and field sobriety on the driver. The driver <br />failed field sobriety tests and provided a breath alcohol content of .17. During an <br />inventory search of the vehicle 1.8 grams of cocaine was recovered. The suspect was <br />booked into the Ramsey County Jail for Gross Misdemeanor 3rd Degree DWI and <br />narcotics possession. His vehicle was forfeited. <br /> <br />On January 9th at approximately 2345 hours, Officer Kostohryz was on patrol in the area <br />of the 2100 Block of Old Highway 8 NW when he observed a vehicle make a moving <br />violation. A traffic stop was conducted and the driver was presenting several signs of <br />intoxication. He failed field sobriety testing and refused to provide a preliminary breath <br />sample. He was placed under arrest and also refused to provide a DMT breath sample. <br />Due to the driver refusing the breath test and the fact that he was driving with a 10-year <br />old child in the vehicle, he was booked into the Ramsey County LEC for 2nd Degree <br />DWI and his vehicle was forfeited.
