4 <br />On August 15th, a resident reported that the driver of a vehicle parked in the area of <br />Valley View Lane and Thorndale Avenue displayed a knife and made threats at the <br />victim to “watch your back” before driving away from the scene. Officers are following- <br />up with the license plate and suspect description. The vehicle has been involved in <br />several neighborhood traffic complaints and suspicious behaviors, and the resident had <br />approached the driver to ask him to leave the area. <br /> <br />Around 12:30am on Thursday, August 16th, DWI Officer Don Kostohryz assisted Saint <br />Anthony police officers with locating an impaired driver who fled from the scene of a <br />motor vehicle crash. He also assisted with a blood draw of the suspect after a search <br />warrant had been obtained for an evidentiary sample. <br /> <br />On August 16th, New Brighton Police and Fire were dispatched to Cub Foods on a <br />vehicle fire. Officer Kostohryz arrived on scene and was able to extinguish the flames <br />with the fire extinguisher from his squad. <br /> <br />On August 17th, Officer Amberg stops a vehicle he had previous contact with and had <br />knowledge the vehicle did not have insurance on it. He stops the vehicle and ends up <br />towing the vehicle. During an inventory search of the vehicle, Officer Amberg locates a <br />gram of methamphetamine. The driver, a 41 year old male from S. St. Paul, was booked <br />on the Possession of Methamphetamine charge. <br /> <br />During the afternoon hours of August 18th, squads responded to the area of Silver Lake <br />Road and Rice Creek Road after a taxi driver reported being threatened with a gun. When <br />officers arrived, the suspect was not complying with officer’s commands to remove his <br />hands from his waistline and to stop walking. The suspect then fled on foot and was <br />quickly apprehended. The suspect was in possession of marijuana and provided a false <br />name to officers. After determining the suspect’s real name, it was found that he had an <br />active warrant for a weapons violation in Hennepin County. He was interviewed and <br />booked for the warrant and providing false information to law enforcement. <br /> <br />On August 20th, Roseville PD was looking for a Fraud suspect that had just fled from <br />their city. Officer Kostohryz was on routine patrol and observed the vehicle in the area <br />of County Road D. He stops the vehicle and identifies the driver, a 31 year old Columbia <br />Heights man. Officer Kostohryz learns the driver has a revoked driver license and no <br />insurance on the vehicle. A Roseville officer comes to the scene and takes custody of the <br />driver and the vehicle. The party was ultimately booked at the Ramsey County jail for <br />the fraud. By the end of their watch on the 20th, Sgt. Emerson’s team will assist 3 more <br />different agencies on a variety of calls from assisting with a perimeter on a Roseville <br />burglary, assisting St. Paul PD and Orono PD identify a driver in a suspicious incident <br />case and assisting St. Anthony PD try to locate a suspects that fled from a stolen vehicle. <br /> <br />On August 20th, the Police and Fire Divisions responded to the 1100 block of Robin <br />Lane on report of smoke coming from the rear of a residence. When they arrived they <br />found an active fire in the back of the house. A porch was completely involved in fire and <br />the fire had started to extend to the attic space of the main part of the house. Prior to the <br />arrival of Public Safety personnel, employees from the Garage of New Brighton went to <br />the residence and were able to safely remove to dogs from the residence.
