9 <br />conviction, she was booked at LEC for 3rd Degree DWI. <br /> <br />On August 4th just before midnight, Officer Amberg stopped a vehicle for a moving <br />violation (speed). The vehicle was slow to stop. The driver, a 34 year old man from <br />Coon Rapids, had a strong odor of alcoholic beverages on his breath, bloodshot watery <br />eyes, slurred speech and poor balance. The driver failed field sobriety tests and was <br />arrested. He agreed to take a breath test which revealed a BAC of .10. Due to a <br />previous qualified DWI, he was booked for 3rd Degree DWI. <br /> <br />On August 7th around 1:30am, DWI Officer Kostohryz conducted a traffic stop on a <br />vehicle for speeding and failure to maintain lane. He detected a strong smell of alcohol <br />and marijuana coming from vehicle. The driver, a 37 year old male from Mounds View, <br />consented to and failed Field Sobriety tests. He was arrested for DWI. Approximately <br />10 grams of marijuana was located in the vehicle. The driver agreed to a breath test <br />which revealed a BAC of .11. He was booked for 4th Degree DWI and Possession of <br />Marijuana in a Motor Vehicle. <br /> <br />On August 9th around 2:30am, DWI Officer Kostohryz conducted a traffic stop on a <br />vehicle with inoperable headlight. The driver, a 23 year old New Brighton man, <br />displayed signs of impairment and admitted to smoking marijuana prior to driving. The <br />driver consented to and failed field sobriety tests. The driver was placed under arrest for <br />DWI. A marijuana pipe was found in his pants pocket and a grinder was located in <br />vehicle. A search warrant obtained and a urine sample taken. The driver was booked for <br />4th Degree DWI. He was also cited for Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. <br /> <br />On August 9th around 10:20pm, Officer Amberg stopped a vehicle for moving and <br />equipment violations. The driver, a 21 year old New Brighton man, had the odor of <br />alcoholic beverages coming from his breath, bloodshot watery eyes, slurred speech and <br />poor balance. The driver failed field sobriety tests and was placed under arrest. He <br />agreed to take a breath test which revealed a BAC of 17. Due to previous driving history, <br />he qualified for the enhanced charge of 2nd degree DWI. His vehicle was held for <br />forfeiture and he was booked for the DWI. <br /> <br />On August 15th, Officer Farmer stops a vehicle for a traffic violation. The driver, a 38 <br />year old White Bear Lake man, shows signs of impairment from methamphetamine use. <br />The driver admits he has a problem with his use of methamphetamine. The driver was <br />arrested for DWI and a search warrant is obtained for a urine sample. He was booked for <br />4th degree DWI. <br /> <br />On August 16th, Officer Farmer was on routine patrol when he stopped a vehicle for a <br />lane violation. Officer Farmer noticed the odor of marijuana from inside vehicle and on <br />driver. A search of the vehicle revealed a marijuana pipe and marijuana. Also located <br />under the driver's seat was a handgun. The driver had a valid permit to carry. The driver, <br />a 29 year old Columbia Heights resident was cited for Possession of Marijuana in a <br />Motor Vehicle and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. A copy of the report was <br />forwarded to Anoka County Sheriff's Office to revoke the driver’s permit to carry. <br /> <br />On August 19th, Officer Amberg stops a vehicle for a moving violation. The driver, a 41 <br />year old Minneapolis woman, shows signs of impairment. She fails field sobriety tests
