6 <br />present. The complainant stated that the suspect vehicle came within 1 foot of striking a <br />child getting off the bus. The suspect vehicle and driver were located a short time later. <br />The driver was cited. <br /> <br />On October 4, Officer Xiong stops a vehicle and discovers the driver, a 21 year old <br />Columbia Heights resident, showing signs of being under the methamphetamine. He fails <br />field sobriety tests and is placed under arrest. A search warrant was obtained and a urine <br />sample was obtained. He was booked for DWI. <br /> <br />On October 6 at 1:12am Officer Wodnick observed a vehicle traveling over 100mph <br />northbound on Silver Lake Road. Officer Wodnick aired the information on the vehicle <br />and Mounds View Officers were in the area on Silver Lake Road in their City. They <br />located the vehicle, stopped it, and took the driver into custody for DWI. Officers did not <br />pursue the vehicle due to the high speeds, but just advised other agencies. <br /> <br />On October 6 at 11:19pm Officer Wodnick observed a vehicle traveling south on Silver <br />Lake Road crossing the centerline multiple times. The vehicle was stopped and the <br />driver displayed signs of impairment. The driver failed to complete field sobriety testing <br />and was taken in to custody for DWI. The driver provided a sample indicating an alcohol <br />concentration of .14 and was booked at the Ramsey County Law Enforcement Center for <br />4th Degree DWI. <br /> <br />On October 18, Officer Amberg stops a vehicle for speeding. The driver had an odor of <br />alcoholic beverages, slurred speech, bloodshot watery eyes and poor coordination. The <br />driver stated he had "a couple beers." The driver failed field sobriety tests. A search <br />incident to arrest revealed suspected cocaine on the driver. During an inventory search of <br />the vehicle, an additional 14 grams of cocaine was recovered. The driver agreed to take a <br />breath test which revealed a BAC of .08. The driver admitted controlled substance was <br />his. He was booked for Possession of the Cocaine. The vehicle and $920.00 held for <br />forfeiture. <br /> <br />Traffic Safety Coordinator Sergeant Nelson and our agency’s two Drug Recognition <br />Evaluators (DREs), Officers Farmer and Kostohryz, attended the annual TZD Conference <br />in Mankato on October 23rd-24th. This conference provides a forum for sharing <br />information on best practices in engineering, enforcement, education, and emergency <br />medical/health services and for identifying new approaches to reducing the number of <br />traffic fatalities and life-changing injuries on Minnesota roads. <br /> <br />Shortly before midnight on October 24, Officer Semanko stopped a vehicle for speeding <br />on Silver Lake Road near County Road E. The driver was also swerving in the lane and <br />following too closely to the vehicle ahead of it with excessive braking. Once stopped, the <br />driver displayed signs of intoxication and admitted to drinking. He also had a revoked <br />driver’s license. He failed field sobriety tests and was placed under arrest. He agreed to <br />take a breath test which revealed a BAC of .19 before booking at the Ramsey County Jail. <br /> <br />On October 25, a New Brighton officer observed a vehicle speeding S/B Silver Lake <br />Road near County Road E. The vehicle was also swerving in the lane and following too <br />closely to the vehicle ahead. The vehicle was stopped and the driver admitted to <br />drinking. The driver showed signs of impairments and had a revoked license. The driver
