12 <br />IX. TRAINING <br /> <br />This section will review the training activities of our Public Safety personnel for the <br />month. <br /> <br />On October 1, firefighters completed their annual physical agility testing that includes a <br />timed series of tasks that might normally occur at an emergency scene. <br /> <br />On October 2 and 4, all sworn peace officers participated in mandatory in-service training <br />days on either Tuesday or Thursday this week, receiving continuing education on <br />emergency medical services (EMS) and participating in annual hands-on use of force <br />training. <br /> <br />On October 8 and 10 Sgt. Sypniewski conducted firearms training for department staff. <br />The training included a refresher on irritant spray and alternating restraint tools. <br /> <br />Director Paetznick and Deputy Director Olson attended the International Association of <br />Chiefs of Police (IACP) Conference in Florida. They had the opportunity to attend <br />training sessions provided by the top trainers in the country. <br /> <br />On October 10, Sgt. Singer, Sgt. Sypniewski, and Office Supervisor Forbord attended the <br />BCA Leaders Conference sponsored by the BCA. <br /> <br />On October 15-16, Deputy Director Hamdorf and Community Engagement Officer <br />Krebsbach, attended the annual conference of the Minnesota Crime Prevention <br />Association in Duluth. <br /> <br />On October 18, Office Supervisor, Julie Forbord, attended a Terminal Agency <br />Coordinator workshop at the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension. TACs ensure <br />compliance with policies and regulations for State and National Criminal Justice <br />Reporting Systems, including training and access for agency users of the systems. <br /> <br />Sgt. Singer attended training as a Negotiator for the Ramsey County SWAT Team. <br /> <br />Sgt. Nelson, Officer Farmer and Officer Kostohryz attended the TZD Conference in <br />Mankato October 22, 23 and 24. <br /> <br />Deputy Director Trevor Hamdorf attended the weeklong CLEO and Command Academy <br />hosted by the Minnesota Chiefs of Police Association (MCPA) at Camp Ripley. On <br />Wednesday morning, Director Tony Paetznick and Public Safety Chaplain Father Paul <br />Shovelain taught a class for participants on the topic of Building Faith Partnerships in law <br />enforcement. <br /> <br /> <br />X. OTHER ADMINISTRATIVE <br /> <br />This section will review the ongoing administrative issues and meetings during the <br />month. This includes meetings, policy issues, ordinance changes, and personnel issues.
