Both <br />amounts exceed original budget estimates for 2018 that were established during the <br />budget process last year, $124,700 and $239,800, respectively. <br /> <br />Tierney Brothers was on-site at the Public Safety Center this week installing $77,000 <br />worth of audiovisual equipment in the upper level training room to outfit the space as a <br />“smart classroom” for use by Public Safety and its partners, Minnesota Homeland <br />Security and Emergency Management (HSEM) and the Minnesota Chiefs of Police <br />Association (MCPA). <br /> <br />On October 10, Deputy Director Hamdorf attended the monthly meeting of the Ramsey <br />County Emergency Managers. Guest speakers included Executive <br />Director Nate Gove from the Minnesota Board of Peace Officer Standards and Training <br />(POST) and Laura Kushner, Human Resources Director at League of Minnesota Cities <br />(LMC). <br /> <br />On October 22, Public Safety continued to take advantage of City owned property with <br />firefighters again training inside the buildings during their weekly Monday evening drill. <br />The firefighters practiced a variety of emergency response procedures in the simulated <br />environment, including building search, victim rescue, and firefighter egress training <br />exercises. <br /> <br />On October 24, Director Tony Paetznick met with Katie Engman from the Ramsey <br />County Tobacco Coalition/Association for Nonsmokers-MN to follow-up on the next <br />steps for considering any changes to the City’s tobacco ordinance as discussed at the <br />September 25 Council Work Session. <br /> <br />Following recent conversations among several Ramsey County Police Chiefs about <br />improving local follow-up care from mental health calls for service, Northeast Youth and <br />Family Services (NYFS) has committed to a new partnership with the law enforcement <br />agencies serving New Brighton, Mounds View, Roseville, Saint Anthony, White Bear <br />Lake, and North Saint Paul to staff a social/case worker dedicated to these <br />individuals/incidents.
