Councilmember Allen anticipated Mr. Johnson would have a great point of view for the City's parks. f Mayor Johnson thanked Mr. Johnson for his willingness to serve New Brighton. She reported the Council { would be making a decision on the positions this evening and he would be hearing from staff. Lotter stated Mr. Johnson was the runner up for the City's Park and Recreation Director. He described a conversation he had with Mr. Johnson and noted he was a real class act. Discussion — Appointments to CLty Commissions and Task Force Mayor Johnson requested the Council begin discussing the appointments. Councilmember Jacobsen stated he supported Mike being appointed to PREC because he had participated in local sports programs. The Council was in agreement. The Council supported Julia O'Rourke, Mike Santini, Abe McEathron and Matt Johnson being appointed to PREC. Mayor Johnson stated she would like to see Todd Biedenfeld appointed to the Planning Commission and Matt Palmeri being appointed to the Public Safety. Spangrud commented the Council had voted last year to change the membership of the Public Safety Commission from ten members to nine. Mayor Johnson suggested Tim McQuillan be considered for PREC. Lotter stated Tim may also be a good fit for the task force. Councilmember Allen stated he would like to see Rachel on the taskforce as well. The Council was in agreement. Mayor Johnson recommended Kelly be considered for the EDC. She stated she would also like to see Robert Allen serve on the taskforce. She commented she wasn't sure if he was interested but believed he would serve this group well. The Council supported Clint Kuipers and Kelly Frush being appointed to the EDC. Councilmember Jacobsen suggested Robert Boyd also be considered for the taskforce. The Council supported Mayor Johnson reaching out to Mr. Boyd and Mr. Allen regarding the taskforce. The Council supported Rachel Luong, Tim McQuillan, Robert Allen and Robert Boyd being appointed to the inclusivity taskforce. Lotter noted the Council had to make two more appointments to the Planning Commission given the fact they had a recent vacancy and Vern McPherson would be stepping down. Councilmember Jacobsen proposed Tim McQuillan and Kelly Frush be considered for the position on the Planning Commission. This would allow Rachel Luong to be moved over to the EDC. The Council supported this recommendation Mayor Johnson requested that Rachel Luong and Tim McQuillan still be asked to be part of the taskforce as well.
