see the logo be distinct for the City of New Brighton, which led her to lean towards an NB being included in
the logo. She indicated the proposed logos were somewhat blocky and suggested they be softened in some
way. She asked if there was a recognizable shape in New Brighton that could be added to the logo. Fink
commented a railroad trail was considered.
Councilmember Allen stated Long Lake could potentially be used.
Councilmember Burg commented the majority of the Council supported having the NB on the logo
Fink explained staff recommends that the Council pick their favorite three designs, and then use the
community engagement software that the City is procuring to gain feedback from the residents on things that
they like or dislike about each of them. Designs can have a final refinement, and then be presented to Council
for a final vote at a future meeting.
Mayor Johnson stated she believed the colors were dynamic and asked for each of the Council to pick their top
three logos.
Councilmember Allen stated the NB logo was his favorite. His other two top candidates would be the top left
and middle left logos.
Daniloff reported her favorite logo was the updated NB. She believed this was the most recognizable logo.
Schlichting commented his two favorites were the NB or the shape of the City logos.
Lotter concurred with Schlichting. He stated he would like the tagline: Building Tomorrow Today.
Fink stated her favorite logo was the NB. She indicated this logo has drawn the most attention and also liked
the three elements included in the logo on the bottom left.
Councilmember Dunsworth reported her favorite logo was the NB however, she would like to see a different
font used. She believed this logo could be very recognizable if the font were changed. She explained her
second favorite logo was the bottom left, if it were simplified and the font were changed. She stated she did not
believe a logo with the map of New Brighton would catch on. She noted her third choice of logo would be the
top right.
Councilmember Jacobsen commented his favorite logo was the NB design. He suggested the "B" be better
defined. He noted he loved the color scheme. His second favorite design was the middle left logo and his third
favorite was the logo with the map.
Councilmember Burg stated she liked the colors on the NB logo but noted this was not her favorite design.
She explained the upper right logo does not stand out to her as the much as others. She supported the tag line
having more visibility. She commented she would like to see the logo have three colors. She commented she
was in favor of the City pursuing a logo with the City map and believed this would become recognizable for
residents going forward.
Mayor Johnson indicated she loved the NB logo and suggested a couple tweaks be made to make the `B" stand
out more. She stated she supported the tag line being a lighter color. She noted she liked the three colors and
stated she would be interested in seeing the map logo reworked. She commented her third favorite would be
the middle left logo.
