Have parking on 1 ih Ave by permit only
. Redirect parking from 1 ih Ave to parking lot off of 5th Street

Other issues that have been a problem are:
. Behavior
. Trash (litter) along 1 ih Ave
. Public urinating
. Underage drinking
. Language
. Erosion because of foot traffic (hard to grow turf because of tree coverage)

Steve explained that the FSC alcohol policy changed. We used to allow people to bring
in there own alcohol but now it is necessary to hire a licensed liquor vendor. We
surveyed other communities regarding their alcohol policy and most only allow alcohol
in certain situations. Disc golf and adult softball are the two primary programs that have
alcohol use. On the MN Frisbee website it states New Brighton as one of the only
communities that allow alcohol. Our park system is smoke free so it does seem
somewhat odd that we allow alcohol.

Dave Becchetti, 115 1 yth Ave NW, New Brighton is a disc golf player. He stated that
disc golfers come from all over the metro area because they like to play different
courses. The carpooling or biking is a good idea but it will not work for all players.

Mark Barton suggested posting signs on 1 ih Ave to redirect parking to the West
parking lot off of 5th Street. This way, parking lot expansion would not be needed.

Ross Metzger, 257 14th Ave NW, stated he sees families with strollers, kids, loners, 20-
30 golfers at a time. He picks up only a few cans (trash) per year. The disc golf course
has a bad layout but has been good for families.

Merrick Brown, 23 - 20th Ave SW, resident of 35 years. He has played the disc golf
course since its inception. He has been parking in the softball parking lot on the east
side to help with the parking problem. That lot does not get a lot of use.

Dave Becchetti recommended leaving the existing course and expanding the course by
a few holes toward the big parking lot by the neighborhood center.

Richard Jensen, 25 1ih Ave stated the paths are not used, the disc golfers stand
behind them. There is garbage in the street. Don't feel the residents living in this area
are being taken care of. He has been sworn at. Some disc golfers come pulling a beer
trailer. There is a lot of drinking and smoking of pot.

Brian Walli, professional disc golfer, who has played on the national level. He is not a
resident, but Hansen is the closest disc golf course to him. Ten years ago parking was
never an issue. But the sport is growing and today it is a concern. There are
approximately 40 disc golf courses in the metro area. He stated that he parks in the
softball lot on the east side and walks. He encourages everyone to do the same,
however only a few comply. He suggests expanding the course by 6 holes to have an
3
