"'.

18 hole course or expansion could be fewer holes. Moving the 1 st hole by the tennis
court would bring people to park in the big lot; rather than on 12th Ave. Three of the
suggested 6 hole expansion would be in the woods which makes the course more
difficult. The expansion suggestion, including cement t-pads (which help with safety
and erosion) would be about $3,000-$5,000. This is considerably cheaper than .
$50,000 for a parking lot.

Mark Barton says that his son enjoys the disc golf at Hansen. The park has a lot of
different features such as softball, biking, jogging, hockey. Mark prefers not to see the
park change too much by adding 6 more holes to the disc golf course. One of the
beauties of the park is its multi-use.

Brian stated on a busy night there could be 40-50 disc golfers on the course. He did not
believe that adding more holes would bring more golfers. The sport is growing so there
may be more players for that reason. If more holes were added, there would be less
congestion because there would be fewer people in one area. It would not be
necessary to add 6 holes; even 3 would ease the flow. Moving the 1 st hole by the west
parking lot would be the key to having people use that lot, instead of parking on 1 ih
Ave.

Deb Jensen, 25 12th Ave, If the disc golfers are there to play and walk the course, she
cannot understand why they cannot park in the lot and walk.

A resident on 2nd Street said he agrees that he likes the multi-use park. He is an
infrequent disc golf player. He would not want to lose the wild flower area. He would be
in favor of adding 3 holes in the wooded area - he likes to snow shoe in the park and to
open up the wooded area may help so it does not feel so secluded. .

Charlie Hutchinson, 13011 Fairfield Road W, Minnetonka stated he is not a resident.
He encourages the Commission to find a new place with more parking. The area by the
bathrooms and the tennis court would be ideal. Players like playing in the woods
because it is a real challenge. The park is a jewel and he understands why you want to
preserve is as much as possible. This course is one of the oldest courses in the metro
area. Disc golf is a good sport for everyone to play. It encompasses all ages and
different kinds of people. It gets people out and doing something. For safety reasons it
is important that the t-pads all be the same surface. The asphalt can get sandy and
slippery. Concrete is the best surface. The sport is a professional sport. It is becoming
more competitive and more mainstream. Hole #1 is nice but because it is on the hill it
could be a safety issue. Suggest making the course 15 holes.

Mickey Henry, has been a resident since 1980. She said they are one of the first users
of the disc golf course. They raised their 4 children playing and now their grandchildren
play. She suggests moving #1 hole to where #5 is now.

Becchetti also agreed that Hansen Park is a jewel and it should remain a multi-use
park. He empathizes with the folks living on 1ih Ave. He believes the expansion will
solve the problems. If there is a way, he suggests adding holes on the other side of the
creek. This will solve problems.

.

4
