ZONING UPDATE GOALS <br />Modernizing Code (continued) <br />Goal <br />■ <br />16. Review enforcement policies and applicable penalties for Chapter 7 of the new code will specifically focus on <br />code infractions to reflect present-day operations and all aspects of enforcement. Recent changes to the <br />procedures zoning code on enforcement will simply be shifted <br />into the new zoning framework <br />SPECIFIC CODE ISSUES TO ADDRESS <br />Goal <br />17. Review and update all definitions as needed <br />• Make sure all terms that need a definition are <br />present (i.e. lot front), <br />• That defined terms are actually used in the code <br />(i.e. "Kennel' is presently defined but is never used) <br />• That outdated definitions are eliminated (i.e. <br />Electronic Amusement Device or Game), <br />• That definitions actually make sense (i.e. currently <br />every road in the community is defined as an alley <br />or a highway per the present ordinance) <br />• That definitions only define the term and do not <br />contain zoning standards (i.e. the definition for <br />"parking space" goes beyond explaining what a <br />parking space is and calls out minimum size <br />standards) <br />• Update terms per changes in state statute (i.e. <br />statute allows Cities to establish "conditional" uses <br />rather than "special" uses). <br />■ Chapter 8 (Rules & Definitions) will be updated <br />continuously throughout the update process, and <br />defined terms will be consistently used throughout <br />the ordinance. All noted issues will be addressed <br />as part of the update process <br />18.
