1 RESOLUTION ____ CITY COUNCIL CITY OF NEW BRIGHTON RESOLUTION MAKING FINDINGS OF FACT AND APPROVING A SPECIAL USE PERMIT TO AUTHORIZE IMPROVEMENTS TO IRONDALE HIGH SCHOOL AT 2425 LONG LAKE ROAD WHEREAS, the City of New Brighton is a municipal corporation, organized and existing under the laws of the State of Minnesota; and, WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of the New Brighton has adopted a comprehensive plan and corresponding zoning regulations to promote orderly development and utilization of land within the city; and, WHEREAS, Irondale High School, located at 2425 Long Lake Road with the property identification number of 17-30-23-22-0043, has existed at that address for decades; and WHEREAS, the Mounds View Public School District (the “Applicant”) made application to the City on 12/14/18 for a special use permit to authorize improvements Irondale High School; and WHEREAS, proposed additions to the building include the addition of a new auditorium, six new classrooms, and a revised main-office/secure entrance; and WHEREAS, proposed interior renovations include improvements to hallways and intersections, conversion of the existing pool into a new fitness room, a renovated lobby area, and creation of a new multi-purpose room out of the existing auditorium; and WHEREAS, the exterior of the building will be improved with brick and precast panels matching the existing building along with new metal panels and accent lighting, and additional parking will be added in a new lot to the NE of the school; and WHEREAS, staff fully reviewed the request and prepared a report for consideration by the Planning Commission at their meeting on January 15, 2019; and WHEREAS, the Planning Commission held a public hearing on the request at the January 15th meeting and considered input from residents; and WHEREAS, the Planning Commission recommended approval of the request on January 15th based on the applicant’s submittals and findings of fact; and
