1 <br />RESOLUTION ____ <br />CITY COUNCIL <br />CITY OF NEW BRIGHTON <br /> <br />RESOLUTION MAKING FINDINGS OF FACT AND APPROVING A SPECIAL USE <br />PERMIT TO AUTHORIZE IMPROVEMENTS TO IRONDALE HIGH SCHOOL AT <br />2425 LONG LAKE ROAD <br /> <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City of New Brighton is a municipal corporation, organized and existing under the <br />laws of the State of Minnesota; and, <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of the New Brighton has adopted a comprehensive plan <br />and corresponding zoning regulations to promote orderly development and utilization of land within <br />the city; and, <br /> <br />WHEREAS, Irondale High School, located at 2425 Long Lake Road with the property <br />identification number of 17-30-23-22-0043, has existed at that address for decades; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the Mounds View Public School District (the “Applicant”) made application to the <br />City on 12/14/18 for a special use permit to authorize improvements Irondale High School; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, proposed additions to the building include the addition of a new auditorium, six new <br />classrooms, and a revised main-office/secure entrance; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, proposed interior renovations include improvements to hallways and intersections, <br />conversion of the existing pool into a new fitness room, a renovated lobby area, and creation of a <br />new multi-purpose room out of the existing auditorium; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the exterior of the building will be improved with brick and precast panels matching <br />the existing building along with new metal panels and accent lighting, and additional parking will be <br />added in a new lot to the NE of the school; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, staff fully reviewed the request and prepared a report for consideration by the Planning <br />Commission at their meeting on January 15, 2019; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the Planning Commission held a public hearing on the request at the January 15th <br />meeting and considered input from residents; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the Planning Commission recommended approval of the request on January 15th based <br />on the applicant’s submittals and findings of fact; and <br />
