SUP & Site Plan Review: City of New Brighton
Planning Commission Report; 9-17-19

Page 5
Water, Sanitary,
and Storm
Systems
It will be necessary to relocate existing storm sewer, sanitary sewer, and watermain
to avoid having these facilities beneath the salt facility
Hard surface occupies much of the PW site and there is no increase required for the
salt shed, so the net runoff will remain unchanged.

Storm water /
Grading /
Erosion:
Minor grading modifications will be coordinated with pavement restoration to
insure drainage reaches its desired location.

Signage No change in signage is proposed in conjunction with the salt shed relocation.

Fire/Safety: Public safety has fully reviewed the initial plans for the new salt shed location and
does not have any concerns.

Hours of
Operations:
Public works operates 24/7, 365 days a year providing service to the City’s
residents.

Parking &
Traffic:
The proposal includes no changes triggering the need for additional parking, nor
will it have any impact on area traffic patterns.

Sidewalks &
Trails:
There are no sidewalks in this area nor are any planned as the Public Works facility
is a secured site.

Development
Phasing:
Relocation of the salt shed would occur in a single phase.

Watershed
District Review
Staff would recommend any approval be conditioned on an RCWD permit being
obtained for the proposed work (if required).

Special Use Permit Review
In General:

The need for a Special Use Permit is triggered by new location of a salt shed that
does not meet the aesthetic requirements of Section 6-390(12).
