Page 1 of 2 <br /> <br />RESOLUTION <br />CITY COUNCIL <br />CITY OF NEW BRIGHTON <br /> <br />RESOLUTION MAKING FINDINGS OF FACT AND APPROVING A SPECIAL USE PERMIT <br />AND SITE PLAN AUTHORIZING RELOCATION OF THE EXISTING SALT SHED ON THE <br />PUBLIC WORKS PROPERTY AT 700 5TH STREET NW <br /> <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City of New Brighton is a municipal corporation, organized and existing under the <br />laws of the State of Minnesota; and, <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of the New Brighton has adopted a comprehensive plan <br />and corresponding zoning regulations to promote orderly development and utilization of land within <br />the city; and, <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City of New Brighton owns the property located at 700 5th Street NW in New <br />Brighton; and, <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City of New Brighton (the “Applicants”) have made application for a Special Use <br />Permit (SUP) and Site Plan approval to authorize the relocation of an existing salt shed to a new <br />location on the property to accommodate the recently approved Midtown Village development; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, staff fully reviewed the request and prepared a report for consideration by the Planning <br />Commission at their meeting on September 17th, 2019; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the Planning Commission held a public hearing on the request at the September 17th <br />meeting and considered input from residents; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the Planning Commission recommended approval of the request on September 17th, <br />2019, based on the applicant’s submittals and findings of fact; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City Council considered on September 24th, 2019, the recommendations of the <br />Planning Commission, Staff, the Applicant's submissions, the contents of the staff report, and other <br />evidence available to the Council. <br /> <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the City Council of the City of New Brighton <br />hereby approves the requested special use permit and site plan based on the following findings of <br />fact: <br />1. The new salt shed location will not be detrimental to the public health or general welfare, but <br />instead is essential for maintaining public safety by ensuring adequate materials are on-hand <br />for winter road maintenance;
