10 <br />VIII. HOMELAND SECURITY AND EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT <br /> <br />This section will review ongoing activities for homeland security and emergency <br />management. This includes the activities of the New Brighton Community Emergency <br />Response Teams (CERT). <br /> <br />On November 27, New Brighton squads assisted Homeland Security attempt to pick up a <br />New Brighton resident for a Federal Theft warrant. The party was not home but New <br />Brighton squads were requested to keep looking for her. <br /> <br /> <br />IX. TRAINING <br /> <br />This section will review the training activities of our Public Safety personnel for the <br />month. <br /> <br />Members of the Public Safety administrative staff attended the fall training of the <br />Minnesota Professional Law Enforcement Assistants Association (PLEAA) that was held <br />in Brooklyn Park. Speakers included representatives of various partners in local law <br />enforcement, including the Minnesota Crime Prevention Association, the Minnesota <br />Towards Zero Deaths (TZD) campaign, and the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal <br />Apprehension (BCA). <br /> <br />On November 27 and 28, Firearms/Use of Force Instructor Sergeant Emerson conducted <br />annual refresher training for all sworn officers on use of the Taser. In addition, officers <br />completed a firearms training session in the Public Safety Center range. <br /> <br />Sgt. Singer attended Ramsey County SWAT Negotiator training. <br /> <br />Officer Semanko attended the BCA DMT (Intoxilyzer) certification course. <br /> <br /> <br />X. OTHER ADMINISTRATIVE <br /> <br />This section will review the ongoing administrative issues and meetings during the <br />month. This includes meetings, policy issues, ordinance changes, and personnel issues. <br />This also includes meetings of a county wide, regional, and/or statewide basis on public <br />safety related issues. <br /> <br />On November 1, Director Paetznick attended the quarterly advisory board meeting of the <br />Ramsey County Violent Crime Enforcement Team (VCET). Discussion topics included <br />adopting the State Multijurisdictional Task Force Operating Procedures and Guidelines <br />Manual and reviewing the Strategic Plan. Statewide Gang and Drug Commander, Brian <br />Marquart, from the Minnesota Department of Public Safety and representatives from the <br />Office of Justice Programs (OJP) also attended. <br /> <br />
