4
At about 10:00 pm on Friday, April 12, officers responded to the 1500 block of Piper
Drive on the report of a gun pointing incident. Dispatch told responding officers that a
male was holding another male at gun point. As officers arrived both males ran and were
not responding to commands. Officers were able to catch up to both of the males that
were now actively fighting and determined one of them was a bail bondsman and was
attempting to take the other into custody for an active warrant. Both of the men were
detained and interviewed. The bail bondsman was released and the other male was
booked into the Ramsey County jail for a felony warrant.

Around 10:30 am on Sunday, April 14, a resident of Elk Mound (WI) tracked her stolen
cell phone, that was taken from a bar in Minneapolis the night before, to an apartment
building in New Brighton. She activated an alarm on the device and officers made
contact with the tenant from the unit where it was found to be sounding. The occupant
stated that he found the cell phone the previous night and turned it over to the owner.

Around 10:45 am on Sunday, April 14, officers received third-hand information from a
social worker of a domestic disturbance at a residence and found that the 82-year-old
father had attempted to call 911 himself because he was scared of his 48-year-old son, but
the son had taken his phone away. The suspect was advised that he was under arrest and
became actively resistant which required hands-on restraint by officers and a Taser
pointed at him. He was booked at the Ramsey County Jail.

Shortly before midnight on Sunday, April 14, Officer Amberg stopped a vehicle for a
moving violation in addition to displaying no license plates, with a fictitious temporary
tag in the rear window that was just a yellow piece of paper. The driver had a revoked
license status and the vehicle was found to be stolen on April 10 in Richfield. The
suspect was arrested, booked at the Ramsey County Jail, and charged with Motor Vehicle
Theft.

Dayshift officers on Monday, April 15, assisted investigators of the Ramsey County
Violent Crime Enforcement Team (VCET) with executing a search warrant at an
apartment building in New Brighton. They recovered 489 vials of liquid marijuana with
an estimated street value of $25,000, five pounds of marijuana, and $3,400 cash.

Officers responding to an unresponsive female in a vehicle on the exit ramp from
southbound I-35W to County Road E-2 administered Narcan and performed rescue
breathing on the victim due to an apparent heroin overdose on Monday, April 15, around
6:40 pm. She was transported to Unity Hospital by Allina. Officers later discovered her
real identity and after she was released from the hospital, arrested her for several
outstanding felony warrants.

Around 8 am on Tuesday, April 16, a bicyclist gave the finger to and swore at a tow truck
driver, then approached the vehicle and began punching the driver through the open
window while tearing the side view mirror from the truck. The bicyclist and tow truck
driver then fight in the street but nobody was injured. After interviewing witnesses, the
bicyclist was determined to be the primary aggressor and was cited for disorderly
conduct.
