8 <br />• 8 DWI arrests <br />• 35 drivers cited for DAR/DAS/DAC <br />• 10 vehicles towed <br /> <br />Squads were asked to concentrate their efforts on the freeways and major roads in Saint <br />Paul for the fishing opener. It was a very busy night with 23% of all vehicles stopped <br />being operated by a person who had a Revoked, Suspended, or Canceled license (7% <br />greater than last week). Now, onto the notables: <br /> <br />A White Bear Officer led the group with 3 warrant arrests (2 from the same car) and 7 <br />citations for DAR, DAS, DAC…all from only 10 traffic stops. <br /> <br />A Saint Paul Officer made 2 DWI arrests: One 4th degree (M) and one 2rd degree (GM). <br /> <br />Another Saint Paul Officer had two arrests during the shift: The first occurred when an <br />individual attempted to “duck” back into a parking lot (of a neighborhood liquor store) <br />that they had just exited from. The suspicious activity resulted in the driver being arrested <br />for DAC-IPS (Driving After Cancellation-Inimical to Public Safety). Later on the same <br />officer noticed a vehicle (when it almost struck a marked squad car on a traffic stop). The <br />driver was booked for 3rd degree DWI after the DMT registered their BrAC at 0.17. <br /> <br />A Saint Anthony Officer arrested a person, who is awaiting trial on several felonies, for <br />possession of narcotics. The officer also cited 4 for DAR, DAS, DAC. <br /> <br />Several squads also assisted with a shooting that occurred during the shift. <br /> <br />Around 7 pm on Thursday, May 2, Officer Amberg observed a vehicle with front end <br />damage, and a license plate check showed that the registered owner had a revoked <br />license. The driver was stopped and confirmed that he did not have a license nor valid <br />insurance on the vehicle. A check of the suspect’s driver’s license record showed that <br />since 2010, he had over 50 incidents where he had failed to appear or pay fines, including <br />10 since 2018. He was arrested for gross misdemeanor no insurance and booked at the <br />Ramsey County Jail for the offense. <br /> <br />On May 1, Officer Amberg stops a female driver and sees behavior indicative of <br />stimulant use. She fails fields sobriety tests then later admitted to using <br />methamphetamines earlier in the night. A search warrant was signed by a judge and a <br />urine sample was obtained. She was booked for 3rd Degree DWI at the Ramsey County <br />LEC. <br /> <br />Officer Amberg stopped a vehicle for speeding on County Road D around 2:30 am on <br />Friday, May 3, and found that the driver displayed signs of intoxication. He failed field <br />sobriety tests and was arrested for DWI with an evidentiary breath alcohol concentration <br />measuring .08. He was booked at the Ramsey County Jail for 4th Degree DWI. <br /> <br />Shortly after 1 am on Sunday, May 5, Officer Sonterre stopped a vehicle for a lane <br />violation on Long Lake Road at Rice Creek Road and observed that the driver displayed <br />signs of intoxication. She failed field sobriety tests and was arrested for DWI. Her <br />breath alcohol concentration measured .11. She was booked at the Ramsey County Jail
