8
• 8 DWI arrests
• 35 drivers cited for DAR/DAS/DAC
• 10 vehicles towed

Squads were asked to concentrate their efforts on the freeways and major roads in Saint
Paul for the fishing opener. It was a very busy night with 23% of all vehicles stopped
being operated by a person who had a Revoked, Suspended, or Canceled license (7%
greater than last week). Now, onto the notables:

A White Bear Officer led the group with 3 warrant arrests (2 from the same car) and 7
citations for DAR, DAS, DAC…all from only 10 traffic stops.

A Saint Paul Officer made 2 DWI arrests: One 4th degree (M) and one 2rd degree (GM).

Another Saint Paul Officer had two arrests during the shift: The first occurred when an
individual attempted to “duck” back into a parking lot (of a neighborhood liquor store)
that they had just exited from. The suspicious activity resulted in the driver being arrested
for DAC-IPS (Driving After Cancellation-Inimical to Public Safety). Later on the same
officer noticed a vehicle (when it almost struck a marked squad car on a traffic stop). The
driver was booked for 3rd degree DWI after the DMT registered their BrAC at 0.17.

A Saint Anthony Officer arrested a person, who is awaiting trial on several felonies, for
possession of narcotics. The officer also cited 4 for DAR, DAS, DAC.

Several squads also assisted with a shooting that occurred during the shift.

Around 7 pm on Thursday, May 2, Officer Amberg observed a vehicle with front end
damage, and a license plate check showed that the registered owner had a revoked
license. The driver was stopped and confirmed that he did not have a license nor valid
insurance on the vehicle. A check of the suspect’s driver’s license record showed that
since 2010, he had over 50 incidents where he had failed to appear or pay fines, including
10 since 2018. He was arrested for gross misdemeanor no insurance and booked at the
Ramsey County Jail for the offense.

On May 1, Officer Amberg stops a female driver and sees behavior indicative of
stimulant use. She fails fields sobriety tests then later admitted to using
methamphetamines earlier in the night. A search warrant was signed by a judge and a
urine sample was obtained. She was booked for 3rd Degree DWI at the Ramsey County
LEC.

Officer Amberg stopped a vehicle for speeding on County Road D around 2:30 am on
Friday, May 3, and found that the driver displayed signs of intoxication. He failed field
sobriety tests and was arrested for DWI with an evidentiary breath alcohol concentration
measuring .08. He was booked at the Ramsey County Jail for 4th Degree DWI.

Shortly after 1 am on Sunday, May 5, Officer Sonterre stopped a vehicle for a lane
violation on Long Lake Road at Rice Creek Road and observed that the driver displayed
signs of intoxication. She failed field sobriety tests and was arrested for DWI. Her
breath alcohol concentration measured .11. She was booked at the Ramsey County Jail
