8 <br />• 6 drivers cited for DAR/DAS/DAC <br />• 6 vehicles towed <br /> <br />Patrol officers stopped several vehicles on August 1 to educate drivers about the new <br />hands free law. Community Engagement Officer Brad Krebsbach obtained educational <br />literature and cell phone mounts to be given away during National Night Out and other <br />public outreach events. <br /> <br />Night shift officers conducting traffic enforcement during the early hours of August 3 <br />arrested a total of three drivers for DWI, including a 30-year old female from Mounds <br />View for 4th Degree DWI around 1:45 am (.09 BAC), a 30-year old male from Arden <br />Hills around 2:30 am for 2nd Degree DWI (.22 BAC and previous alcohol conviction), <br />and a 20-year old male Fridley resident around 4 am for 4th Degree DWI (.12 BAC). All <br />were booked at the Ramsey County Jail. <br /> <br />Officer Kostohryz stopped a vehicle for an equipment violation around 11 pm on August <br />3. The driver displayed signs of intoxication and failed field sobriety tests. His breath <br />alcohol concentration measure .10 and the 42-year old New Brighton resident was <br />booked at the Ramsey County Jail for 2nd Degree DWI based on two previous alcohol- <br />related convictions in the past 10 years. <br /> <br />Around 8:45 pm on August 11, Officer Amberg observed a driver make an illegal U-turn <br />on Silver Lake Road and Palmer Drive. When stopped, he observed signs of intoxication <br />and the driver failed field sobriety tests. The suspect’s breath alcohol concentration <br />measured .11. The 26-year old Stillwater resident was booked at the Ramsey County Jail <br />for 4th Degree DWI. <br /> <br />Officer Thomas received an anonymous phone call about a possibly impaired driver <br />around 1 am on August 12 and observed multiple moving violations committed by the <br />suspect. When stopped, the driver was unable to perform field sobriety tests and was <br />arrested for DWI. His breath alcohol concentration measured .21. The 32-year old <br />Fridley resident was booked at the Ramsey County Jail for 2nd Degree DWI due to a <br />prior alcohol-related conviction. <br /> <br />On August 13 around 2:15 pm, Officer Pyka stopped a vehicle for expired registration <br />and the driver provided a fake insurance card. He found that the driver had five previous <br />convictions for no insurance and was to be arrested for the gross misdemeanor offense. <br />When placed under arrest, the driver feigned a seizure and was transported by Allina <br />paramedics to Unity Hospital. The hospital later reported to dispatch that the suspect had <br />left Unity with an IV still in his arm. <br /> <br />After witnessing a driver swerving in lanes of traffic and nearly strike a merging vehicle <br />on I-694, Officer Sonterre stopped the vehicle around 1 am on August 14 and observed <br />that the driver showed signs of impairment. The driver failed field sobriety tests and was <br />arrested for DWI. His breath alcohol concentration measured .16. The 29-year old <br />Oklahoma resident was booked at the Ramsey County Jail for 3rd Degree DWI. <br /> <br />On August 21, Officer Sonterre stopped a vehicle for speeding and a lane violation. The <br />driver showed signs of impairment and failed field sobriety tests. The driver was arrested
