6 <br /> <br />II. USE OF FORCE BY POLICE OFFICERS <br /> <br />It is the policy of the New Brighton Department of Public Safety that officers exert no <br />more force than is reasonably necessary in the discharge of their licensed duty, and that <br />the use of deadly force is consistent with the law, training and our policy. <br /> <br />YEAR MONTH YEAR TO DATE <br />2019 3 51 <br />2018 7 35 <br />2017 4 36 <br />2016 5 33 <br />2015 3 24 <br /> <br /> <br />III. TRAFFIC SAFETY <br /> <br />The following information contains summaries of significant traffic safety and traffic <br />enforcement incidents during the month. <br /> <br />The Saint Anthony Police Department hosted the TZD Hi-Viz DWI Saturation on Friday, <br />August 23, 2019 from 7 pm to 3 am Six (6) over-time funded officers and six (6) <br />volunteer Reserve Officers produced the following: <br /> <br />• 83 traffic stops <br />• 7 people taken to jail <br />• 4 DWI arrests <br />• 7 drivers cited for DAR/DAS/DAC <br />• 4 vehicles towed <br /> <br />Officers were asked to concentrate on major roads (Larpenteur and Snelling) and <br />highways (35W, 35E, 36, and “The 280”) surrounding the “Great Minnesota Get- <br />Together.” The evening was very busy. Once again, detail squads set aside their primary <br />mission and assisted with a multitude of incidents and calls for assistance during the <br />evening. Detail Officers were involved in everything from foot pursuits to medicals, <br />trying to stop street racers to trying to help visitors find their way around the area. <br /> <br />The Maplewood Police Department hosted the TZD Hi-Viz DWI Saturation on Friday <br />September 6, 2019 from 7 pm to 3 am. Nine (9) over-time funded officers and four (3) <br />volunteer Reserve Officers produced the following: <br /> <br />• 106 traffic stops <br />• 10 people taken to jail <br />• 10 DWI arrests
