December 8, 2020 Page 3 of 10 <br /> <br />4 Ayes, 0 Nays, 1 Abstain (Councilmember Fynewever) - Motion Carried <br /> <br />Mayor Johnson read a proclamation in full for the record recognizing Nasreen Fynewever for her service to <br />the City of New Brighton. She stated Councilmember Fynewever has been a delight to work with. She <br />thanked Councilmember Fynewever for putting others before herself and for her tremendous service to the <br />community. <br />Councilmember Jacobsen thanked Councilmember Fynewever for the positive impact she has had on the <br />City of New Brighton. <br />Mayor Johnson thanked Councilmember Fynewever for opening up doors and dreams for future <br />Councilmembers. <br />Councilmember Allen thanked Councilmember Fynewever for sharing her vision and perspective with the <br />City. He appreciated how Councilmember Fynewever was working to craft a future that was more <br />representative of the community. <br />Councilmember Dunsworth thanked Councilmember Fynewever for serving the City and for offering a new <br />voice in New Brighton. <br />Councilmember Fynewever stated it has been an honor to serve with this Council and to raise awareness <br />towards diversity, equity and inclusion. She thanked her family for allowing her the time to serve. She <br />looked forward to watching the next Council continue the City’s mission. <br /> <br />4. Proclamation Recognizing Councilmember Paul Jacobsen for his service. <br /> <br />Motion by Councilmember Dunsworth, seconded by Councilmember Fynewever to <br />accept the Proclamation recognizing Paul Jacobsen for his service to the City of New <br />Brighton on the City Council. <br /> <br />A roll call vote was taken. <br /> <br />4 Ayes, 0 Nays, 1 Abstain (Councilmember Jacobsen) - Motion Carried <br /> <br />Mayor Johnson read a proclamation in full for the record recognizing Paul Jacobsen for his years of service to <br />the City of New Brighton. She commended him on his long list of accomplishments and stated she <br />appreciated how well Councilmember Jacobsen worked with people. She stated it has been an honor and <br />privilege to work with Councilmember Jacobsen. <br />Councilmember Allen thanked Councilmember Jacobsen for his tremendous citizenship, leadership and <br />dedicated service to the City. He appreciated Councilmember Jacobsen’s vision for the community and <br />stated his institutional knowledge would be missed. <br />Councilmember Fynewever thanked Councilmember Jacobsen for taking an interest in Irondale students. <br />She appreciated the pride Councilmember Jacobsen took in all New Brighton residents. She hoped that the <br />Councilmembers that followed would hold the same level of grace and acceptance as Councilmember <br />Jacobsen. <br />Councilmember Dunsworth thanked Councilmember Jacobsen for serving as a mentor to her. She <br />appreciated Councilmember Jacobsen’s level of civic engagement and stated it had been an honor to serve <br />with him. <br />Councilmember Jacobsen explained the honor and privilege of serving the City of New Brighton had been <br />his. He discussed how serving on the City Council had offered him growth opportunities. He reported he got <br />onto the Council to make a difference and to make New Brighton a better place. He explained this only <br />happened because of the efforts of everybody. He thanked the Council and City staff for their tremendous <br />efforts.
