Maplewood Police hosted the Hi -Viz DWI Saturation on Saturday, December 28, 2013 <br />from 8 P.M. to 4 A.M. Eight overtime funded officers and six reserve officers focused <br />their efforts in Maplewood that yielded the following: <br />109 traffic stops <br />10 people arrested & brought to jail <br />3 DWI arrests <br />19 drivers cited for DAR or DAS <br />5 vehicles towed <br />Notes: St Anthony officer made three separate warrant arrests and arrested one driver for <br />DWI following an accident. A large number of warrant arrests and an unusually high <br />number of drivers without valid licenses. <br />Officers responded to the area of Silver Lake Rd at 17th Terrace NW on a report of an <br />accident between a vehicle and a Metro Transit Bus. Officer Wakasugi investigated and <br />found that the Metro Transit Bus was stopped when a vehicle driven by Karen Martinek, <br />55 years of age, struck the rear of the bus. Ms. Martinek suffered a wrist fracture and <br />was transported to Unity Hospital. A preliminary breath test indicated a blood alcohol <br />level of .15. A blood test was drawn at the hospital. Charges of DUI in the fourth <br />degree are pending. CN 14016290. <br />Ramsey County Sheriff's Office hosted the DWI Saturation on Wednesday, December <br />31, 2014 from 6 P.M. to 4 A.M. Twenty-two overtime funded officers and five reserve <br />officers focused their efforts in St Paul that yielded the following: <br />339 traffic stops <br />19 people brought to jail <br />13 DWI arrests <br />39 drivers cited for DAR or DAS <br />18 vehicles towed <br />Notes: St Anthony officer involved in a slow to stop / low speed pursuit where the driver <br />was arrested and found in Possession of a Controlled Substance (Cocaine). Ramsey <br />deputy recovered two unoccupied stolen autos with the assistance of the ALPR <br />(Automated License Plate Reader). Ramsey deputy arrested a woman for DWI after <br />midnight and learned she was arrested for the same offense on 1/1/09. <br />IV. CRIMINAL INVESTIGATIVE SECTION (CIS), SCHOOL <br />RESOURCE OFFICER (SRO) and VIOLENT CRIME ENFORCEMENT <br />TEAM (VCET) ACTIVITY <br />This section contains information regarding the Criminal Investigative Section <br />(Detectives) and our School Resource Officers (Irondale, Highview, the Elementary <br />Schools/ Area Learning Center) and the member of the Ramsey County Violent Crime <br />Enforcement Team (VCET). This includes summary data of investigations and <br />clearances by the Criminal Investigative Section. <br />5 <br />
