207 traffic stops
18 people brought to jail
12 DWI arrests
8 drivers cited for DAR or DAS
13 vehicles towed
5 seat belt tickets
Notes: Saturation squads assisted SPPD with a Felony stop on a stolen car with two
occupants in Maplewood. Ramsey reserve officers narrowly missed being struck head on
in their squad and were able to follow the offender into his driveway in St Paul where he
was arrested for DWI after failing Field Sobriety Tests and blowing .243 AC on a
Preliminary Breath Tester (PBT). St Paul officer working the Saturation involved in a
pursuit of a stolen car where the three occupants fled on foot in different directions just
south of Lake Phalen. Quick work by ECC staff in tying the multiple radio channels
along with assisting squads establishing a secure perimeter enabled K-9 officers to track
and apprehend all three suspects hiding in garages and back yards after a lengthy search.
On January 23rd at about 7:24 pm Officer Nerison and Officer Craig responded to the
New Brighton Bar and Grill. The bartending staff had refused service to an intoxicated
female described as 50 years of age wearing glasses and a mink coat. The female left in
a 2006 Chrysler Town and Country van which listed to an address in New Brighton.
Officer Craig checked the address and found that the van was in the driveway of the
home and appeared to have been recently driven. Officer Craig knocked on the door and
spoke to the van's owner who was identified as Sarah Linser, 54 years of age from New
Brighton. No one else was at home. Ms. Linser smelled strongly of alcoholic beverages
and was very unsteady. She did state that she had been driving the van. Ms. Linser
failed field sobriety tests and was taken into custody. Ms. Linser agreed to a breath test
but she gave a limited sample which still resulted in a .22 result. She later agreed to
provide a blood test. Due to the likely high test result, she was booked on the enhanced
charges of DUI in the 3rd degree, a gross misdemeanor. CN 15001076.
New Brighton Police hosted the DWI Saturation on Saturday, January 24, 2015, from 8
P.M. to 4 A.M. Nineteen overtime funded officers and six volunteer reserve officers
produced the following:
173 traffic stops
20 people brought to jail
13 DWI arrests
7 drivers cited for DAR or DAS
13 vehicles towed
Notes: Saturation squads assisted White Bear Lake on two significant events. A driver
fled from a stolen vehicle and was apprehended after a K-9 track. Another driver was
arrested for 2nd Degree DWI after a fiery (vehicle vs. guard rail) crash on White Bear Ave
near Hwy 694. The impaired driver had walked away and was located about 3 blocks
from the crash scene innocently walking home.
On January 29th at about 8:09 pm Officer B.J. Deboer responded to the 300 block of W
Cty Rd D on a report of an intoxicated driver in the parking lot. Upon arrival Officer
DeBoer spoke to a witness who observed a 2007 Grand Cherokee driving erratically on
35W and then on W Cty Rd D including driving the wrong way and driving through a
"ditch". Officer DeBoer located the vehicle and identified the driver as Mauricio
7
