CN 15001491. <br />On February 5th at about 1:59 a.m. Officer Wakasugi was westbound on 1694 <br />approaching Long Lake Rd when he observed a 2006 Chrysler 300 with an obstructed <br />license plate. Officer Wakasugi stopped the vehicle and identified as Nathan Klempke, <br />33 years of age from Buffalo. Mr. Klempke had a very strong odor of alcoholic <br />beverages and slurred speech. Mr. Klempke stated that he had been at Running Aces <br />and had consumed two beers. Officer Wakasugi conducted field sobriety tests which <br />Mr. Klempke failed. Mr. Klempke was arrested and agreed to a breath test. The result <br />was a .11 alcohol content. Mr. Klempke had one previous DUI arrest in 2005 and as a <br />result was booked on the enhanced charges of DUI in the 3rd degree, a gross <br />misdemeanor. CN 15001683. <br />A police pursuit initiated by the Minneapolis Police Dept. terminated near 287 Windsor <br />Lane on February 5th at about 10:15 pm after the suspect vehicle struck a small light pole. <br />The suspect fled on foot and was not located. The suspect's vehicle contained firearms, <br />ballistic vests and ammunition. No Officers were injured. The suspect's identity is <br />known (not a New Brighton resident) and the case is still under investigation by the <br />Minneapolis Police Dept. CN 15001722. <br />On February 5th at about 7:58 pm Officer Farmer was on patrol when he observed a 2004 <br />Saturn Vue that was swerving in its lane on eastbound Cty Rd H. The vehicle also failed <br />to completely stop at the stop sign Cty Rd H at Long Lake Rd. Officer Farmer stopped <br />the vehicle on Cty Rd H at Old Hwy 8 NW and identified the driver as Freddy Martin, 72 <br />years of age from Mounds View. Mr. Martin could not sit still and his face, arms, and <br />legs were twitching. A passenger stated that Mr. Martin had smoked methamphetamine <br />earlier and was attempting to buy more. Mr. Martin failed field sobriety tests and was <br />placed under arrest. Sgt. Spiess of the St. Anthony PD completed a drug evaluation of <br />Mr. Martin. He also agreed to a urine test. Due to previous DUI convictions, Mr. <br />Martin was booked on the enhanced charges of DUI in the 3rd degree, a gross <br />misdemeanor. CN 15001717. <br />On February 6th at about 11:38 pm Officers respond to the area of 21St St NW/ 14' St NW <br />on a report of several people yelling and fighting. Upon arrival, Officers located <br />Reynaldo Martinez, 38 years of age from Minneapolis behind the wheel of a running <br />vehicle, a 2002 Buick Rendezvous. Mr. Martinez was found to have a gross <br />misdemeanor warrant for his arrest and was taken into custody. Officer DeBoer noted <br />that Mr. Martinez had red, watery eyes and smelled strongly of alcoholic beverages. Mr. <br />Martinez refused all tests for impairment. Due to a previous DUI, Mr. Martinez was <br />booked on the warrant and enhanced charges of DUI in the 2nd degree for the refusal and <br />a previous DUI conviction. CN 15001782. <br />On Sunday, February 8th at about 10:09 pm a pursuit initiated by the Blaine Police <br />Department assisted by the MN State Patrol came through New Brighton twice with the <br />suspect vehicle exiting 694/Long Lake Rd, traveling westbound 694 to Central, then <br />traveling eastbound on Mississippi to Long Lake Rd where the suspect vehicle crashed. <br />Two suspects were taken into custody by the Blaine PD.
