On March 8th at about 4:36 am Officer DeBoer was first to arrive on a report of a <br />multiple vehicle multiple injury fatal accident. A vehicle traveling the wrong way on I <br />694 struck one vehicle then collides head on with another. One driver was ejected. 1694 <br />was completely shut down at Long Lake Road and Silver Lake Road. Reserve Officer <br />Honkanen responded on way from work and was relieved by MNDOT at 6 am. The MN <br />State Patrol is investigating. <br />On March 9th at 11:38 pm Officer Wakasugi was in the 1900 block of Silver Lake Rd <br />when he observed a 2014 Kia Sorrento northbound in the 1700 block that was straddling <br />the center white lines. Officer Wakasugi observed the vehicle eventually enter the <br />parking lot of the Super America station at 2010 Silver Lake Rd. The driver was <br />identified as Caili Mello, 29 year old female from Fridley. Officer Wakasugi noted that <br />her eyes were bloodshot and watery and she had slow, exaggerated movements. She <br />also seemed confused as she was searching for her driver's license. Ms. Mello stated that <br />she consumed two glasses of wine during the evening. Officer Wakasugi conducted <br />field sobriety tests which Mello stumbled and appeared to have poor balance. She was <br />placed under arrest. She eventually agreed to a breath test resulting in a .22 result. Due <br />to the very high test, Ms. Mello was booked on the enhanced charges of DUI in the 3rd <br />degree, a gross misdemeanor. CN 15003320. <br />On March 10th at about 11:42 pm Officer Farmer responded to 201 5th St NW on a report <br />of a female who appeared to be intoxicated driving a Jeep. Officer Farmer was advised <br />that the vehicle then left westbound on 5th St NW. Officer Farmer was later able to locate <br />the vehicle, a 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee, parked at 950 W Cty Rd D. It was occupied by <br />a female driver who was later identified as Amber Guzy, 31 years of age from Ham Lake. <br />Ms. Guzy was found to be under the influence of alcohol. She had slurred speech and <br />refused to perform field sobriety test and was placed under arrest. Ms. Guzy later <br />refused to take a breath test and due to the refusal and previous driving history she was <br />booked on the enhanced charges of DUI in the 2nd degree, a gross misdemeanor. CN <br />15003321. <br />The Ramsey County Sheriff's Office hosted the DWI Saturation on Saturday, March 7, <br />2015, from 8 P.M. to 4 A.M. Nineteen overtime funded officers and four volunteer <br />reserve officers efforts yielded the following: <br />228 traffic stops <br />11 people brought to jail <br />10 DWI arrests <br />15 drivers cited for DAR or DAS <br />7 vehicles towed <br />Notes: Numerous TZD officers assisted with traffic control and closing Hwy 694 after a <br />fatal crash on Hwy 694 shortly after 3:00 A.M. involving multiple vehicles near the New <br />Brighton and Fridley border. <br />On Friday, March 13th at about 6:34 pm Officer Farmer was on patrol northbound on Old <br />Hwy 8 NW when he observed a 1995 Chevrolet pick-up exit the Skyline Motel. The <br />vehicle made an illegal wide turn as it drove northbound on Old Hwy 8 NW. A check on <br />the license plate indicated "not on file". Officer Farmer initiated a traffic stop on Old <br />Hwy 8 NW at Cty Rd H. The vehicle stopped in a lane of traffic blocking the steady lane <br />of traffic behind them. The driver was identified as Deraye Miller, 38 years of age from <br />7 <br />
