50 drivers cited for Driving after Revocation or Suspension <br />17 vehicles towed <br />Notes: Significant numbers tallied despite most of the St. Patrick's Day partying <br />occurred during West 7th Street's first "Lucky Palooza" event the previous Saturday night <br />where the street was closed down to vehicle traffic for several blocks. <br />SPPD officer recovered a stolen vehicle during a traffic stop. Another SPPD officer <br />arrested a driver for DWI and Test Refusal following a crash due to the driver being high <br />on bath salts. The driver became out of control, was transported by medics and was later <br />admitted to the hospital after he had to be medically sedated. White Bear Lake officer <br />arrested two individuals for Disorderly Conduct and Obstructing during a traffic <br />stop. Numerous assists to the public and assists to "On -Duty" SPPD officers by <br />Saturation squads being in the right place at the right time. As noted above, a very high <br />number of drivers cited for Driving after Revocation and/or Suspension. <br />On March 19th at about 8 pm Officer Farmer was parked at the BP Station, 1201 Silver <br />Lake Rd, on an unrelated call for service when he observed a 2002 Ford Explorer park at <br />the pumps. The registered owner of the vehicle had a suspended driver's license. <br />Officer Farmer watched the driver enter the business and then exit back to his vehicle. <br />Officer Farmer spoke to the driver who was identified as Charles Schuster, 34 years of <br />age from Fridley. Mr. Schuster did have a suspended driver's license and he also had a <br />strong odor of alcoholic beverages and red, watery eyes. He stated that he had "a few" <br />drinks earlier. Mr. Schuster failed field sobriety tests and was placed under arrest. A <br />breath test later revealed an alcohol content of .13. Due to previous driving history, he <br />was booked on the enhanced charges of DUI in the 3rd degree, a gross misdemeanor. CN <br />15003835. <br />On March 28th at about 1:34 am Officer Brianna Riedel observed a 2008 Ford F 150 <br />northbound on Old Hwy 8 NW at a speed of 50 mph in the 40 mph zone. Officer Riedel <br />followed the vehicle and made a traffic stop on Old Hwy 8 at 5th Ave NW. The driver <br />was identified as Matthew Lund. Mr. Lund displayed signs of intoxication including a <br />strong odor of alcoholic beverages, watery eyes and slurred speech. Mr. Lund admitted <br />that he "had too many". He failed field sobriety tests and was placed under arrest. A <br />breath test later revealed a result of .21. Due to the high test, Mr. Lund was booked at <br />the Ramsey County Law Enforcement Center on DUI in the 3rd degree, a gross <br />misdemeanor. CN 15004279. <br />IV.
