On August 81h at about 10:54 pm Officer B.J. DeBoer observed a vehicle, a 2007 Pontiac, <br />eastbound on 7th St NW at about 20th Ave NW at a high rate of speed. Radar indicated <br />speed of 50 mph in the 30 mph zone. Officer DeBoer stopped the vehicle on 7th St NW <br />at about 17th Ave NW. The driver was identified as Terry Fleming, 57 years of age from <br />Robbinsdale. Mr. Fleming had a strong odor of alcoholic beverages and his eyes were <br />bloodshot and watery. He also appeared confused. Mr. Fleming stated that he had <br />consumed one shot of vodka and two beers around 8 pm but had then gone to sleep. He <br />stated that he had been awakened to take his wife to work. Mr. Fleming failed field <br />sobriety tests and was placed under arrest. He later agreed to a breath test with a .11 <br />result. Due to a previous DUI conviction, Mr. Fleming was booked on the enhanced <br />charges of DUI in the 3rd degree, a gross misdemeanor. CN 15011072. <br />New Brighton Police hosted the Hi -Viz DWI Saturation on Saturday, August 8, 2015 <br />from 8 P.M. to 4 A.M. Seventeen overtime funded officers and four volunteer reserve <br />officers focused their efforts in New Brighton in conjunction with the Stockyard Days <br />community celebration that yielded the following: <br />• 194 traffic stops <br />• 11 people arrested & brought to jail <br />• 9 DWI arrests <br />• 14 drivers cited for DAR or DAS <br />• 5 vehicles towed <br />Notes: Heavy traffic on Snelling Ave and Old Hwy 8 due to the detour and temporary <br />freeway closure on Hwy 35W for another weekend bridge removal. SPPD officer <br />assisted on a traffic stop of a vehicle involved in a shooting from the West District in St <br />Paul that contained a shooting victim. <br />On August 14th at about 8:32 pm Officer Wakasugi conducted a traffic stop on a 2003 <br />Hyundai Accent in the area of 10th St NW/Old Hwy 8 NW for an equipment violation. <br />The driver, identified as Michael Olson, 29 years of age from New Brighton, appeared to <br />be impaired. Officer DeBoer arrived to assist and found that Mr. Olson was sweating <br />heavily, had watery and bloodshot eyes and admitted to having taken methamphetamine <br />at about 12:30 pm that day. Mr. Olson failed field sobriety tests (but did test .000 for <br />alcohol content) and was placed under arrest. Mr. Olson later admitted to injecting <br />methamphetamine and heroin at his home earlier in the day. Mr. Olson agreed to submit <br />a blood sample which was withdrawn by Officer DeBoer. Mr. Olson has two previous <br />DUI arrests and was booked on the enhanced charges of DUI in the 2nd degree. He was <br />also served with Notice of Intent to Forfeit the vehicle he was driving. CN 15011352. <br />On August 16th at about 4:09 pm Officer Farmer conducted a traffic stop on a 1999 <br />Mercury Sable in the area of Cty Rd H near Oriole Lane for a speeding violation. Officer <br />Farmer identified the driver as Kimberly Brown, 44 years of age from Hammond, <br />Wisconsin and a passenger as Timothy Kline, 58 years of age from Lowry, MN. <br />Officer Farmer discovered that Ms. Brown had a warrant for her arrest for Theft and that <br />her vehicle was not insured. Ms. Brown was arrested and during a search of her vehicle <br />Officer Farmer located a small amount of suspected methamphetamine. Ms. Brown was <br />arrested for the warrant and for the possession of methamphetamine. Mr. Kline was <br />released at the scene. CN 15011471. <br />71 <br />
