On October 10 at around 11:40 pm, officers responded to the area of Silver Lake Road <br />and Mississippi Street to check for a vehicle that went off the road and had crashed. The <br />caller reported the driver fled the crash on foot. When officers arrived they located the <br />vehicle ad observed it was off the road after hitting a retaining wall and crossing over all <br />4 lanes of traffic. The vehicles air bags were deployed and it was not drivable. As they <br />were investigating the crash and searching the area for the driver, they received another <br />call two blocks away of a male that was struck by a vehicle and was lying in the middle <br />of the road. A witness reported that the male was attempting to cross the street and was <br />"clipped" by a vehicle causing him to fall to the ground. That vehicle continued to drive <br />away from the scene. No description of the suspect vehicle was provided by the witness. <br />It was determined the male that was struck was likely the driver of the first vehicle that <br />had crashed, but he did not admit to it and there was no other way of proving it. He <br />appeared to be extremely intoxicated. Allina paramedics transported him to Mercy <br />Hospital to be evaluated for his injuries. <br />On October 10 at about 9:00 pm, officers responded to the Hilton Homewood Suites to <br />check on a male that was sleeping outside the main entrance. It was determined the male <br />had an active felony warrant for possession of a controlled substance. He was placed <br />under arrest for the warrant. The suspect had a backpack with him and it was searched <br />incident to his arrest and over 796 grams of marijuana was located. He was interviewed <br />and booked at the Ramsey County Law Enforcement Center for the warrant and <br />possession of a felony amount of marijuana. <br />About 4 am on Friday, October 11, New Brighton officers assisted Mounds View Police <br />with a shots -fired call at Scotland Court Apartments in their city. Deputies from Ramsey <br />County located a large amount of blood and traced it to an uncooperative, bloodied <br />victim/suspect of an apparent robbery. Six 9mm shell casings were recovered at the <br />scene. New Brighton officers assisted with the perimeter and evidence. <br />At about 11:00 am on Sunday, October 13, the police and fire divisions responded to an <br />apartment building in the 1200 block of I Oth Street NW on the report of a fire in a <br />garbage can. When they arrived it was determined the fire was put out by a resident; <br />however, there was a large amount of smoke in the building and the alarms were <br />sounding. The fire division confirmed the fire was out and removed the remaining trash <br />from the hallway of the apartment. Nobody was injured. The cause of the fire is <br />undetermined. <br />
