2010. He is happy to have PREC back at City Hall. He encouraged the <br />Commission to bring forward issues that are in the forefront for our <br />community. There should be two-way relationship between this Commission <br />and the City Council. <br />• Dec. 8 the Council held the Truth and Taxation hearing. There were 24 <br />open meetings. <br />• Dec. 12 the Council will approve the budget. The budget is on the <br />City website. <br />• Council Member Strub thanked this Commission for their hard work at <br />Lions Park. The park is exceptional and the all accessible playground <br />is stunning. <br />• Thanks for the hard work on the Eagles Nest and all the improvements <br />to the NBCC over the past several years. <br />• High School students will be allowed to serve on each of our <br />commissions in 2018. <br />• Would like to see "Open Streets" come to New Brighton <br />• Some things residents would like to see are <br />o Organic waste recycling; increase in overall recycling <br />o Pollinate our parks or public spaces, purposeful pollinators; <br />bees and butterflies <br />o More public participation in the parks <br />o Would love to see free swim lessons for all kids in our <br />community; for anyone who wanted it. <br />• Bring your ideas to the Council. <br />• Be an advocate for Change for the Better (round up to nearest dollar). <br />• Support the Dairy Queen on Old Hwy 8 for 10% give to Parks and Rec <br />Days. <br />Chair Fields thanked Council Member Strub for his service. <br />B. Chair Updates <br />None <br />C. Commission Reports on Parks <br />Driftwood: Johnson. So far park looks good. <br />Freedom: Brunell. The sliding hill was getting use after the snow. Good to <br />see. <br />Hansen: Fields. Looking really good. Still dirt and mud on paths from bike <br />race, hopefully will disappear as plow comes through after a snow. Still <br />see Frisbee golfers and dog walkers. Commissioner Johnson commented <br />that he watched the cycle cross event and it was fun to see. Director Fink <br />commented that that group was nice to work with, they helped with <br />reseeding and will be back in the spring to help with any other issues. Left <br />a deposit, very respectful group. <br />Hidden Oaks: Quade. The park is tucked away. May want to get some "City <br />Park" signs out so people know it is back there. It's a beautiful park. <br />Director Fink commented that as part of the City's Comprehensive Plan, <br />signage, to enhance community, has come forward as a theme so it is <br />something that will be addressed in the future. <br />Innsbruck: Axberg.
