Ms. Stewart stated there were plans to grow <br /> but noted she had to assure CPY was sustainable financially. <br /> Councilmember Dunsworth questioned if CPY was able to use the space at Abiding Savior for no charge. Ms. <br /> Stewart reported this was the case. <br /> Councilmember Axberg requested further information on the differences between CPY and NYFS. Ms. <br /> Stewart spoke to the differences between these two organizations and how they served local youth. <br /> Councilmember Allen stated he served on the CPY board and he believed it was far more cost effective for <br /> CPY to be working with this organization than to try and pursue grant funding alone. He commented further <br /> on how grants were awarded and stated it has been very helpful to have JMA working with CPY. <br /> Councilmember Abdulle thanked Ms. Stewart and Mr. White for their detailed presentation. <br /> Mayor Niedfeldt-Thomas asked if CPY had every considered holding an annual fund campaign. She noted this <br /> may be an effective way to get new donors in the community. She stated she would be willing to work with <br /> CPY on this type of an initiative. She commented further on how the number of students receiving free and <br /> reduced lunch has increased in the school district and she anticipated the community would need more social <br /> services going forward. <br /> Ms. Stewart explained she saw firsthand there were growing needs in the community when she visited with <br /> families throughout COVID and she anticipated this would only continue going forward. She commented she <br /> had three full-time staff members and she was doing her best to meet the needs in the community. She thanked <br /> the City for their partnership and continued support. <br /> Councilmember Allen discussed the fundraisers CPY holds each year to raise funding for their programming. <br /> Mr. White thanked all of the members of the community that participated in these fundraisers year after year. <br /> Worksession adjourned at 6:11 pm <br /> Respectfully submitted, <br /> Terri Spangrud <br /> City Clerk <br />
