Critical to
making this happen is the City's willingness to support an application by TUV SUD to the
State of Minnesota for state-level Job Creation Fund dollars allocated specifically to
incentivize this type of expansion. There is no financial cost to the City in supporting their
application, and significant financial benefit should the application be approved.
Councilmember Axberg requested further information regarding TUV SUD. Assistant Director of
Community Assets and Development Gozola discussed the type of work completed by TUV SUD and
explained they were looking to add 18 to 20 employees with the request. He noted these would
be high paying jobs for the community.
Mayor Niedfeldt-Thomas questioned how competitive the job creation fund was. Assistant
Director of Community Assets and Development Gozola reported the Greater MSP has stated TUV SUD
has a great chance at receiving funds.
Motion by Councilmember Dunsworth, seconded by Councilmember Allen to adopt a Resolution
supporting TUV SUD's application for State of Minnesota Job Creation Funds to support an
expansion of their existing facility in New Brighton.
A roll call vote was taken.
5 Ayes,0 Nays-Motion Carried
2.
