Zoning Code Update Status Report
City Council Work Session – 4-12-22

Page 5
(4) To use all feedback to identify core concepts that will be written into new zoning for mixed use
neighborhood and mixed use regional areas.
At the present time, HKGi is preparing to launch phase 3 of this planning process. Prior to that happening, staff will
be reaching out to businesses and property owners within each of the mixed use nodes to ensure they understand
this step of the planning process. To make things abundantly clear on the concept plans, we intend to prominently
include the following language on all concept plans:
This illustrative concept is NOT a development plan and does NOT show desired changes to the built
environment. Rather, this is simply a single representation of potential development following design
aspects sought by the public during Phase I of the Silver Lake Road study. Embodying initial public
feedback in this manner allows us to elicit additional comments (to make sure we’re on the right
track) which in turn will allow the City to craft zoning standards for this new Mixed Use area.
Following this portion of public input, HKGi will be presenting all findings to Council and will let us know the
timeline for development of core concepts. HKGi will then return at a later date to present the final findings and
overall summary of the planning process.
WORKSESSION REVIEW
At the upcoming work session, staff will present a sampling of the current draft code and review the concepts already
examined by the zoning code steering committee. We will also present additional information on the Silver Lake
Road planning study, and take your questions/direction on next steps.
