<br /> <br />Discussion included: <br />• The Commission discussed the different vendors who submitted the RFP’s. <br />• The Commission commented on the line of sight for each proposal and stated <br />Option 1 had the best sight lines. <br />• The Commission supported the splash pad having motio n sensors in order to <br />preserve water. <br />• It was noted there was no intent to have fencing around the splash pad. <br />• The Commission discussed the safety of having concrete and rocks within the splash <br />pad. <br /> <br />Motion by Hicks, seconded by Sokol-Kraft to recommended the City Council proceed with <br />Option 3 (CRS Design) for the splash pad. <br /> <br />Commissioner Slabiak stated she supported Option 3 moving forward, noting she liked the <br />natural look of this splash pad design. <br /> <br />Chair O’Rourke appreciated how Option 3 would be accessible for parents. <br /> <br />Commissioner McEathron questioned if the splash pad would be wheel chair accessible. <br />Director Fink reported visitors in wheelchairs would be able to transfer to the boulders and <br />could move around on them. <br /> <br />Director Fink anticipated the park would need more picnic tables in order to accommodate <br />all of the visitors in the summer months. She noted the picnic tables were wheel chair <br />accessible. <br /> <br />The Commission supported the splash pad having a flower bed and more shade areas. <br /> <br />Motion carried 8-0. <br /> <br />B. Recap of Commissioner Initiatives – Jennifer Fink, Parks and Recreation Director <br /> <br />Director Fink shared information on some of the recent events that have happened based <br />on Commissioner initiatives with respect to buckthorn removal and pollinator gardens. She <br />was pleased to report 21 people showed up to attend a Meet the City Forester e vent. She <br />commented further on how the City Forester was addressing EAB in the community. She <br />was pleased to report the City has found a home improvement loan program through the <br />Minnesota Department of Housing. <br /> <br />Discussion included: <br />• The Commission thanked staff for the update on this item. <br /> <br />VI.
