.

.

.

Waf!es and Insurance
The contract provides for a 3% cost ofliving adjustment (COLA) effective January 1,2006 and
another 3% wage increase on January 1, 2007. The health insurance contribution in 2006 is also
consistent with that received by both the non union, Sergeants Union, and the Teamsters Union.
In 2006, the employer will contribute $470 for single health insurance and $660 for family health
insurance. Those employees that opt-out of health coverage will receive $200/month to be
applied towards other benefits in the cafeteria program. The contract provides for a re-opener for
insurance for 2007. This allows us to have more information regarding insurance premiums and
the type of health plans offered in 2007, such as implementing a consumer driven health care
plan.

Uniform Allowance
The uniform allowance will also be increased from $610 to $650/employee annually.

HoIidavs
The contract also adds Martin Luther King as an additional holiday. This increases the total City
approved holidays to 11 but it does not change the amount of hours paid as holiday pay.
Employees will continue to receive 96 hours of holiday pay per year.

Senioritv/Shift Biddine
New language was provided in this contract that allows employees to bid their work shift by
seniority.

Specialtv Pav
The contract increases the specialty pay for the School Resources Officer from $25/month to
$125/ month. There is no change in the specialty pay for detectives.

Finally, the only item not settled in this contract is the insurance for 2007. This will result in a
re-opener in 2007 and will come back before the City Council for approval.

~~
Je a Troha
Assistant City Manager

\;\COUNCIL\REPORTS\~006\Admini.tr.lion\Patrol Officer ~006 Contract.doc
